Strewth! If thats how a Type 9 fits, I'm very glad I stuck to Vauxhall Powertrain!
Whilst it is obvious that you had very little choice, I am seriously concerned about chopping out the tunnel stiffener rib, this is quite an important structural member, being part of a box section that connects the 2 sill boxes, hacking it out is bound to compromise the shells rigidity.
I don't want to come over all heavy, but I earnestly suggest you find some way of replacing this lost section, perhaps across below the tailshaft housing would be possible?

ah yeah thats gunna have a brace made up to put the strength back into it, gunna brace it underneath the box so i can retain the bolt in tunnel and it will also be the gear box mount, the bottom end of that rib is badly rotten so its gotta come of all the way round as yet, but thanks for pointing that out

Keep up the good work, I love seeing something different! It makes me a little less lonely to know there are other nutters like me out there!

Onto a slant four you fit a T9 using the somewhat shallower Triumph bell housing and a shortened gear lever remote
(as in Vitesse/GT6 conversions). The gear lever then is located in the normal location.
A Sierra gearbox mount can be easily mounted into a 1500/1850 o/d cross member.



I have not looked at this myself, but I do know that Transit vans using a T9 had the gear lever much further forward (on top of the 'box?)......

well chaps and chapettes dosent look like this is gunna see the road, reasons outta my hands shes going on an oval, i thought about selling, but who wants a mad half built project so shes guna be a classic(style)hotrod i cant part with her now im this far into it, she aint gunna have no far out mods than whats done allready, ill be keeping the engine and box arrangements just ad a cage and proper race seats and she'll be on track,

work is going on but not really much to update, just get all bracketry and bits fabbed up, work shall be progressing soon as iv bin building a euro rod 4 stansted raceway 4 a play toy

then made a box up 2 hide the coil pack and rear thermostate

i then dicided after tacking it together to do away with the coil pack and use the original coil on plug set up, just got to now figure out how to connect these up 2 the esc unit


still got to finish the other side but still debating weather 2 have a hydro clutch or use the cable ?????????????

Mine is suprisingly staying Boggo standard, which is probably a first for me, but I am hoping to make her a nice, usable classic ready for the show season.

On a different note, I had a couple of those RS engines many moons ago, one std, one an all steel HT racing lump that was "supposed" to have been originally built for one of the F2 works rally cars. Wish I still had that one cos it was a nice engine.

bin a busy bugga on me beloved toledo,
1stly ive more or less finished the wiring bar a switch or 2, so we manged to get power to the engine and went for a start up with sad results as the engine had no compression in the 1st 2 cylinders so instead of a pricey rebuild i was gunna replace but couuldnt find a rs engine in my price range so then i stumbled on an ad for a 2.3 galaxy engine(exactly the same block) 200 pound 2 my workshop door result, its far from a straight foward bolt in job, but more on that another time,

all doors bin stripped down for prepareing and 1 caused me a rite head ache but after watching a panel beater replace a door skin i was confident 2 chop the bottom rear door skin of and make a panel up stich welded and folded and impressd me self.

front suspension and wish bone fitted and sprayed even reused the polybushes as they were still in great condition, front shocks that came with her a fubar so for now i chopped 3 inches of the springs so shes rolling but im now after new ball joint covers each side ??? any ideas? and saveing for gaz coileys and green pads

made a battry box in the boot and a fuel tank in place, ive gone for an ax tank a, because i had it b it fitted str8 in cits not lgunna rot, , also flushed the tailgate and fitted a popper to open the boot .

made me own sill covers after heating and folding metal over the good sill, had to do it in 2 pieces but its not turned out to bad, prepare the arches to be rolled as im having the wheels banded to 7 inch on the backs

propshaft im having made so waiting on funds for that, hand brake fitted and remote gearlinkage finished , now the cars being teared apart again for the wonders of body work and final welding,

still im always a believer in pixs
