Wasn't that much actually, got them to paint it as well to make it look nice. In fact I've just popped some pics on my resto thread so you can see the before and after.

Probably not but that's what I've had for the last 8-9 years.

This would appear to be the least of my problems at the moment Paul...... Having a Piper 285 cam fitted to my head and it looks like the inlet lobes on 6 and 8 are misaligned.

Being advised not to fit it as it would cause premature wear of the rocker arms/cam lobes.....

To this powder coated affair all new bushes, stub axles, vertical links, bearings, ball joints and a Trackerjack brake conversion (better pics to follow)....







Some more goodies arrive....



Axle off and bits being made ready for powder coating before fitting new bushes....

Hmmm...

Never seen one that has moved that much!!

Did the bolts come out of these okay - mine were a real bugger as they had rusted to the metal insert.

For a bush to be so deformed makes me think that this car has been subjected to some serious wheelspinning.....
I wouldn't reuse they arms for that reason. Fatigue here leads to failure.

Furthermore, the holes in the axle pickup brackets....are these elongated?

Curiously it was only the offside that was deformed, the other side was perfect....



The mounting points looked fine too.

It's going on a welding jig tonight so I'll have better access to look at the mounting points then.....

Fairly typical of a Sprint after a few miles.

Must have rear end steered interestingly on power on and off...

Sometimes the bolts rust in and sometimes they pop out like they just went in. I've stopped looking for reasons now, but they always go back in with copaslip.
Its worked so far on the few repeats I've done. the front one is usually ok as this is undone for shock changes. The axle end can be a mare.
I also wouldn't polybush these as they do crack sometimes.

So pleased my bespoke wooden wheeled wonder didn't collapse despite navigating some of Cheshire's bumpier roads!

Just got to get it back now!

A crap picture, but the subframe ' s nearly done!



I haven't got a torque wrench that will go up to 300Nm+, so torqued the new stub axles upto about 220Nm and carried on for 'a bit '!

Does this amount of thread poking through look about right, Remember it's a new shaft which I don't think are quite as long as original ones are they?.....

Looks fantastic. What did you use to get the old bushes out/get the new ones in? I was pondering the purchase of a press but actually for the amount it would be used it'd be quite expensive and they get in the way.

I used a piece of 3" pipe cut down on one side and a suitably sized socket on the other in a vice - worked a treat, without the need for a press.
