If it's the same as last year, passenger rides are free, additional drivers £10 a pop. They do need the helmet etc and have to sign the waiver at check in. I think there is a minimum age, but if she has a licence, you should be fine!

Oh and passengers may NOT use hand held video cameras, I got told off for it and now have a dashcam!

Just completed a few mods to mine for the day. Followed the guidance on the TR register pages.
Oil catch tank fitted - £25
Negative battery lead taped yellow 89p
Battery terminals cover with new boots - £4
Ignition switch bought but not yet fitted £16 - will have to make a small bracket to hang off the underside of the dash
Rear firewall - now do I fill the holes with many pieces of aluminium or fill the hole with one piece? I want to retain the rear seat in place so will have to remove the L shaped brackets and re-attach if i go for the one piece option.

I made my firewall in one piece and put it on from inside the car since that was easiest for me. There is nothing to stop you removing the bit of card on the boot side and installing the firewall on that side though, that won't interfere with the seat fitting at all! Good bead of silicone round the edge and a handful of tappers and its job done! I put a couple of blank grommets in the 2 round holes just to finish it off properly.

Are the requirements mandatory? (seem a bit excessive for a trackday!)
Non of that was needed at Brands, goodwood or donnington. Or is it just "advice"?

PS Just called the TRR shop, spoke to a helpful lady who confirmed I was number 35 on the list.
Unhelpfully though, it seems they only contact you if there is an issue!

And everybody will get an email 2 weeks before the event with the regs etc. (but if anybody can answer my q's above that would be helpful!)

It seems to be just advisory! I've done both the previous trackdays from TRR and my car still doesn't meet half of those regs and is iffy on a couple of others. since there is no formal scrutineering, I wouldn't worry about it! I told Ian this as well but he has gone ahead anyway!
The only check they make is a noise level check, the car must produce less than 98db at a steady 4000rpm. If this figure is exceeded, they keep a stock of tiny "baked bean tin" silencers that fit over the tailpipe, they are ugly but seem to work!

Yeah thanks for reminding me Steve. How the hell two race cars get through noise yet mine failed I have still to fathom out. I still have the heavy bean tin if I need it this year and I am assuming I will.

I was thinking of trying to put some wire wool in the tail pipes with something that will pull it out easily. Seen a few ideas on you tube but -

Is it likely to make it about 3db quieter .
Any engine damage issues if I don't use it on track ? I know they are supposed to check on track as well
I also have some exhaust wrap left. Would some round the outside of the rear silencer help do you think. It seems the stainless bigger bore is an issue and maybe that would help resonance but I am just guessing..

I'm running a Rimmers sports stainless system on the Carledo and the noise Gestapo were very complimentary about it, my tip, build the revs gently on test! I don't know of anything that will effectively shut it up, but on the TRR forum there is a thread which suggests using motorcycle "mot" baffles to reduce noise levels and another aftermarket baffle widget that you shove up the tailpipe and bolt in place - along with some debate about how much power will be lost in the process!

My spitfire is pretty loud, yet at Brands it came in at 92db! Really surprised as my Toledo was 97 when tested at Goodwood.
Th build revs slowly idea works.
As do a few simple "bodges"

Anything that causes more backpressure in the exhaust will help. Some people carry a large hoseclip to go round the exhaust plus a L shaped bit of metal. That works OK, again not pretty. Others a bit of tube to slip over the exhaust and clamp on, and squeeze it flat until it passes. Or a db killer for a bike. All have an effect on power.
Best bet is get a better designed exhaust......

Just finishing off my mods now. Saw it as a bit of fun to do them, as Steve says probably not necessary to get on track but they are safety related items and sensible. The oil catch tank did need doing anyway as its breathes heavily and the filter doesn't cope.

I had an email yesterday from the organisers (I guess all entrants did)
However, I did reply asking about all he attachments and regs etc as they appear to be associated with the TRR championship.
Indeed, their reply came back saying the only "regs" are noise, helmet and covered arms/legs. Which is in line with the couple of other trackdays I have done.
Think a tow eye is sensible too. Just in case!

I was hoping to get it past noise with no visible mods and then pull it off for the track to save any issues with backpressure etc. That's why I was looking at wire wool up the pipes. The added difficulty is that I have a standard looking back box with twin pipes that look more like a standard set up. Certainly don't want to get rid of the system. It clearly flows well, sounds nice but just hit 101 on the test. I did get another run at 99 so clearly there is room for error and I never thought of how the revs rise. They were quite anal about it sitting at 4k and this was more difficult than I thought. I may play around with a removable wire wool set up and steady revs with fingers crossed.

My driving skills needed work so I don't want the added of a car looking like it's got a turd hanging off the back.

I actually looked at ALL the regs they put up in one of the files they sent me, with a view to possibly entering the series. But I really can't justify £500+ for helmet and overalls (and gloves - euch!) more for proper FIA cage and other bits and then up to £150 per event - especially with most events being 1 lap sprints or 1 minute ish hill climbs. At this point, i'm not even sure they'd take the Carledo on anyway! Think i'll just stick to trackdays and dragstrip RWYBs, more fun and better value for money!

Anyone else worried about breaking their car?
Mine now has a welded diff and the world's worst sounding Sprint engine so this should be interesting.

What you need Dan, is a nice GM lump! Then you can stop worrying about reliability issues. Remember, "to finish first, first you must finish!" Dives for cover!!!!
