wow, i thought...i have a result....but this lasted only as long as i pushed the throttle....the engine did not pick-up rev´s and stalls. in this moment sounds like its running only on 2 or 3 cylinders....sounds like not getting enough fuel.
next test:
using brake-cleaner in the moment opening the throttle: est voila: the engine picks-up rev´s and is running on all 4 cylinders.
so what to do next?

Is the vacuum pipe between manifold and distributor blocked?

@xvivalve --> read my previous posting above, pleaseGinettaG15 wrote: Update:
i converted the dizzy to electronic (accuspark), set the timing to 11degrees BTDC, new plugs (coil and HT leads were already changed before). centrifugal advance tested: ok, vacuum advance tested: ok
wax inside the copper-capsule, on the new waxstat-jets, has been removed.
......
and if i spray brake-cleaner into a carb and it runs well, it has nothing to do with the ignition.

Re: low in power, lean mixture? 1850HL
SUCCESS!!!
my car is running again properly.
and no...it was not related to my the needles (ABT instead of ABK), not ignition related, not anything related to the old&original fuel pump, not the old fuel, not related to waxstat jets, not choke related....finally it was related to the following:
when i changed my old waxstat jets (which most probably were not containg any wax anymore) the old o-ring of the fuel pipe connectiong the float-chamber to the je, remained stuck inside the threaded recess of the float-chamber. i removed the o-rings with a pincer ( with carbs insitu)
i was succesful on the front carb but looks like i wasn`t at the rear.
so after fitting my new waxstat jets, which i finally unnecessarily converted to non-waxstat by drilling-out the wax, the rear carb´s jet wasnt supplied properly with enough fuel when opening the throttle.
futher investigations turned out that remainings of the old o-ring blocked the float chamber outlet in a way, that enough fuel for idling could pass, but once the throttle had been opened, fuel was missing and therefore the engine did not run properly.

You found the mistake, congratulations! Better still, you had the cojones to own it, so we all could learn!

Re: low in power, lean mixture? 1850HL
after several test drives i´m not happy with the power output:
the car starts perfectly. i pull the choke, first turn of starter, engine runs and falls quickly in smooth idle (~800rpm). choke can be pushed-back quite quickly.
static ign. timing 11 degrees (with vacuum disconnected), quickly advances when engine is reved, up to 25degrees (Vacuum connected). delco dizzy with electronic-module, new coil, new leads, new sparkplugs.
acutally i´m using ABT needles, and even they are minimal richer on top end than the original ABQ, the engine feels "tied-up".
in 3rd it takes rather long until the revs reach 5000...and the engine is quite unwilling to rev higher.
torquewise it pulls well in 3rd from 2000rpm.
in 4th it takes reallylong to accelerate from 80km/h (49miles) to 100km/h (62miles)
if i weaken the mixture, by screwing-in 1 edge on the hexagon of the jet, it becomes totally unwilling to rev and to accelerate.
the jet is screwed out arund 2 full turns+ addtional 2 edges
by luck i found some richer needles in my garage, AAM (very rich compared to the ABQ or ABT)...the engine hardly needs any choke for starting (expected that), idle was less stable when hot and the engine did not pull better...instead even worse.
compression test shows equal 10.5bar on all 4
on motorway the max speed the engine was "willing" to reach in a reasonable time was ~85miles/h
1850HL, 4 speed manual non-OD, sprint-wheels with 185/60R13

Re: low in power, lean mixture? 1850HL
i´m still experimenting with needles....when i recently tidied-up my garage i found a pair of ABT Needles which i purchased around 10y ago from a trustworthy supplier.
as i already have ABT´s fitted (and not happy with them) i thought:
why not try THIS pair of ABT´s?
and you wont believe it: they are different: idle was a bit more lumpy, but the engne felt more free to rev.
conclusion: you cannot even trust the needles nowadays.
this said, my power-output is still not satisfiying. it pulls well in mid range, but (even it improved) feels still very lazy to rev. to 5.5 or 6t rpm

Re: low in power, lean mixture? 1850HL
even it looks like a Monologue meanwhile...i just keep posting the "final" update:
fitted AAC needles and the car runs perfect now.
starts perfect (cold and hot) and needs a short choke-phase, only.
idle spot-on with 700-800 rpm
pulls extremely strong even from low rev´s
rev´s freely
and max-speed can be reached easily now.
so we have a Result!!!
now as the car runs as it should....a mate phoned me "hey, you always wanted my MK2 triumph 2500S, i got the offer to purchase my dream: a restored 2000 MK1, converted to 2500"
hmmm, i thought....now my Dolomite runs, i spent lots of hours in the cold garage over winter, the car is unwelded, original 80.000km.....but i cant afford to buy another Triumph, neither i would have space........what to do?? sell my Dolomite and get the chance to buy the 2500....i need to sleep another night.....
