Tony, I'd love to help, but I really don't know much! I'm pretty sure they are aftermarket, rather than a particular make but I got them unboxed NOS from James Prince in Bournemouth along with another rare period Dolomite accessory (more on this soon)

When I take them off again (only put them on to have the holes BEFORE paint) i'll have a look inside and see if there are any makers marks and I will of course measure the plinths for you, glad to!

I know what you mean about Stag mirrors, they don't fit! If you put them where you are supposed to, you can't get adjustment to actually SEE anything in them! I have a pair of brand new ones in stock, left over from the car below, I gave up and just put Dolomite mirrors on it in the end!

Ok, so i've taken them off and they are clearly marked POLYWAY and TAIWAN! So my suspicions are confirmed, they ARE aftermarket! But it also means you may be able to track some down.

The plinth is exactly 6" long, but as the pic below shows, there is a wide range of possible positions for the screws.




As to the rare Dolomite accessory, when did you last see one of these?






On reflection I probably paid far too much, but in undamaged condition and complete with all the correct fittings, it would have been rude not to. I'm still not sure if I want to risk fitting it to the Dolomega!

Thanks for the mirror size and pic's Steve, appreciated. I will start to search for them. Now you are right i have not seen one of those wind guards for years..... Did Britax make them or Desmo i cant remember? There were a lot of cheaper ones out there that used to fly off, that i do remember That one looks like new.

My instinct says the wind guard is a Britax one, but it's little more than a hunch, there's no markings on it at all. I suspect it's been no more than try-fitted and then stored in the dark, there's no trace of yellowing from sun damage.

I use them on my Cavs, the only flawed bit of design on the whole car is, if you even crack the drivers window when it's raining and the wipers are on, you get a lapful of water pronto! They fixed it for the Vectra B with a raised gutter down the side of the screen!

Now all I need is a plastic louvre blind for the back window, the absolute height (or depth) of 70s kitsch!

Just a couple of progress pics, I've painted out the shuts on the N/S




And vandalized my horribly expensive NOS steel front panel!



After a long internal debate, i've decided to secure the outer front panel and n/s wing with screws and Tiger seal. Mainly so I can paint the INSIDE of the panels thoroughly to discourage future rot, especially round the seams. I think I will aso add a couple of support brackets from the front legs to the bottom of the valance, it's very flimsy and the holes haven't added any rigidity to it!

I'm going to mount the number plate on 2 fabricated brackets between the vent holes and the spoiler, the brackets to keep the plate near to a legal vertical, I may just angle it SLIGHTLY back at the top to deflect a bit more air through the holes!

The bonnet with it's 1300FWD bulge is now prepped, primed, painted inside and ready for colour, pics to follow!

I fitted a similar set to my wifes 2500. These are american muscle car style mirrors.

They are exactly like the CIPA 19100 mirrors shown on Jeroens ad, first row down, second from left.

Yes i'm fitting a front bumper, but with a pair of Lucas genuine NOS "Square 8" spotlights instead of the under riders.

The fan is a 12" from SimonBBC (£44 IIRC) controlled by a thermostatic switch mounted in the top hose, all from Stoney Racing (silicone-hose-shop on ebay) they do a variety of hose sized adaptors and temperature switches to suit all tastes. (£25 a kit last time I bought one) I've added a giant 40A fused relay and a manual override function.

The tool cost me £70 and has made precisely 6 holes so far!

I'm willing to rent it out or sell it on for reasonable money!
