I have the later style number plate lights, so no housing to put it in!

The one that came with the stereo is very small and black in colour, it fits nicely under the lip of the bootlid and should be almost un-noticeable once the car is fitted up completely.

you miss under stand, its a souround that goes round the number plate and fitted on the back panel with reversing camera built in to it got it off Ebay

I remember back in my very early days of motoring, you could buy these REALLY tacky, cheap, ABS plastic roof consoles that started above the mirror and ran back to behind your head, only along the car centerline and maybe 6" wide. but you could get a few switches in, maybe a couple of extra dials and a pair of little spotlight interior lights in the back end. The problem was, nothing much held them up, they were mostly glued to the headlining! So they'd fall in your lap at the worst moment!

I'm looking more at the gap between the front seats which is otherwise wasted space and possibly at a dropaway glovebox from something modern to go under the dash on the passenger side and a smaller version for the space on the outside of the steering column.

The trouble is, I don't even know if scrappies are open ATM and in any case, my long term favourite yard where I had "wandering" rights is now a storage facility!

My Peugeot Expert van has an ENORMOUS roof mounted shelf/cupboard above the screen, it's big enough to irretrievably lose stuff in, but the Dolomite roof wont accept anything nearly as capacious!

I found a few on ebay and they look perfect for the job, have ordered one, complete with all switches and stuff for £30!

You are having terrible luck there Steve.
:( Clearly your previous supplier has no interest in future business and is just taking the p155.

I had always thought they inline pumps were pretty durable, giving warning by getting noisier for a long time before failing.
The problem with them was that the outer casing corroded....
A friend got one for his Audi 100 from a Ford Granada taxi, that pump's casing had been repaired with glass fibre matting
but nonetheless ran well.

Sometimes it does pay to complain...
a friend had a Mondeo with a roof rack he couldn't remove because one of the captive nuts had become free.
The local Ford dealership had told him that this wasn't covered by warranty
so he asked me if it was repairable.
I told to first phone Ford UK direct and persist until you got someone who could authorise repairs, then inform
them that their cars are shite. Ford did agree to repair the car....

What make of Pump are you using Steve? A few people i know swear by "Osias" pumps and have been pleased with the results and they come with a 3year warranty.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OSIAS-New-In ... SwO75dcuiO
Did you buy it off fleabay or a credit card? If you did and the pump is still in it's warranty period you will have some comeback on the supplier. It's a bit of a faff but depends how much it was.

I can't now remember who supplied the pump for the Carledo that broke, that was back in 2010! But I DO remember vividly, that at the time, it was over £60 and I was livid that the guy cut it open, rather than releasing the crimped end! I did protest at the time, but he wasn't interested. So £60 went down the drain, the only consolation being the Renault Espace pump that is still on it was a freebie from a friend!

The last 4 pumps like this (early Cavs use the too) i've had are APS pumps from JCraceandrally on ebay (over 2100 sold, apparently) and up to now i've not had a problem. They are only a couple of quid less than the Osias pump you provided a link to, so if I get no joy here i'll go for one of those!

To be fair, the pumps I HAVE killed on the Dolomega probably WERE my fault, rust in the tank and no prefilter being the likely culprit. But this last one was duff out the box so definitely NOT my fault!

Depends which Vectra, some of the newer ones have a diesel like filter with a replaceable element.

I have a Corsa one further downstream from the pump, the prefilter is to replace the mesh bit that would normally sit over the business end of an in-tank pump, something the Dolomite tank can't supply. With that in place, I probably don't really NEED the Corsa one on the pressure side, but I can't be bothered to delete it now!

Don't worry Sam, I won't blame you if it doesn't! But it looks narrow enough and the gap for the handbrake looks to be in about the right place. I may have to make some gaps for the seat belt stalks to emerge - or I may not! I'll find out soon enough!

A postscript to my fuel pump post, after a conversation by email including sending pics of the pump installation and confirmation of the prefilter i'm using, the supplier has agreed to send me another FOC. Didn't even ask for the duff one back! Miuch better service than the last cowboy!
