Only a little detail. Half Holland is driving at night or in the fog with drl's on and no rear lights.

I presume James was referring to a separate feed to the front sidelights, the rears would still have to be fed from the standard light switch.

Yes, I'm using the pilot lights in the outer headlamp bowls not the original sidelights.

Well, I still haven't received my carb parts from Burlen despite being told last Monday that I would have them by the end of last week. They need the needle retaining screw to complete the order before sending it out. Now the guy told me that they had the screws in the previous Monday but that hadn't been booked into the system yet why it takes over two weeks to book some screws into they system is beyond me, so I may drive over to Salisbury tomorrow and just go and get them so I can get on this week.
Burlen are great for carb parts, they stock virtually everything and the price is generally competitive but their delivery and customer service can be extremely slow and frustrating.
Okay.......

Over the last 25 years I have purchased stuff from Burlen maybe half a dozen times.
Each time the stuff arrived within a couple of days.
My last order was for Stromberg parts.
Ian.

Seeing your Spal fan there, is it easy enough to get hold of the connector to plug into the fan. I'll need to organise some wiring and a relay which might be a nice little job to get on with whilst my head is away.

Yes, here you go!

They do various different connector blocks, I'm going to ditch the bullet connectors at the front end and replace them with some proper connector units.

Looks like they have all the bits I need so I'll get some ordered then I can hide all the wiring neatly whilst the loom is easy to get at.

Woo Hoo, Burlen parts arrived today so I should be able to get everything working again at the weekend.

Last night I reassembled the carbs.
New jet pressed in and the height set to 2.8mm, the same as the one that came out, new floats on and heights set.
New needle adjusting screw and star washer fitted (you can't see them!), new needle and locking screw.
New diaphragms and correct return springs fitted
Everything set to baseline specs and ready to be fitted to the car
Bar the castings and some other bits everything on these carbs is new so they have no reason not to work correctly.

I take it you noted the pip on the diaphram so they fit in only one place - some miss this...and it sets the correct orientation for the piston. If you get this bit wrong the car will idle but not much else as the air valve doesnt move up and down.
Sure you know all this but you didnt mention or hilight in your pics.....
Looking forward to hearing how it goes now....should do over 90....

Yes, sorry Jonners, forgot to mention that!
