Not old I know, but this Bentley parked in Lancaster Services on the northbound M6 yesterday night as I was sitting in the car on my way home.
The bloke refused my request to take a photo of its plate - understandably I guess - but the reason I'd wanted to take it from behind** was that its registration number is 1OW, which reminded me of a certain forum member who stays on the Island in question.
Alan, have you seen this one over there? It was taxed on your home world so I assume that the relevance of the 1OW plate is geographical:

Saw a special mk1 Escort last night. Had an RS1600 badge and was IIRC on a F plate, white with some wide arches.
Shame I wasnt in the Sprint.....I could have made it look slow...

Is that genuine? I'm not really into scrotes. I thought in the early days of mk1's thay had the twin cam badge and used the lotus cortina
engine.

Found this hidden away...no clue as to the owners though, its been sitting since 1995 and has a towrope around the front bumper so i guess it broke down..

The good folk of the Autoshite forum have identified this van as a MB100, manufactured in Spain, never sold in the UK.

So, we can now all sleep now knowing as to what this is.

I have to ask Alan; what on earth are the traffic lights for? They seem bizarrely positioned so close to a T-junction and in what appears to be the back of beyond with no sign of street lamps, telegraph wires or any pavement leading to the lights. Are they there for traffic only? Why? Is it a squirrel crossing? Decorative? Hidden camera TV show to keep the locals amused for whole minutes at a time? Weird.

That bike is rather grand isn't it.

It's a single carriage way John, so we need to be told nothing is coming the other way.

This was half an hour ago on it's first arrival at Gatwick. Quite a few people turned out, some with rather better vantage points than mine


After it had landed I nipped down to gate E which is about 1/3 down the runway on the south side where I was surprised to find a few folk already there.


Surprised because the Gatwick plod have a vehicle on continuous circuit of the perimeter moving on anyone who stops these days. They must be busy down at the Charlwood end because it took a fair few minutes for it to taxi back.


I wouldn't have bothered having seen a row of the things at Heathrow but this will likely be one of very few visits to Gatwick. Many many years ago I stood outside Gate E (on top of a skip iirc) and watched Concorde arrive for the first of very few visits. It would have been in the early 70's and I'd have been knee high.
