Slow progress on this at the moment. Its too cold and dark in the evenings and hard to get motivated. I did get down there one evening last week though.
I cleaned up the bellhousing and all the clutch release components.
Before:
After:
Then I tried to replace the oil seal. I managed to bugger the housing on removal of the old seal

How the hell are you supposed to do it without screwing up the housing? Im guessing I will need to find a replacement

Others may well blow me out here but I reckon you could repair that with some epoxy metal. It doesnt carry a lot of load after all...
The seal does the work.

As long as the substrate is
completely clean (so that the epoxy won't fall off once it sets), the ambient temperature warm (do it indoors, if there's a partner involved, tell them that the forum said you could use the kitchen table for this

) and the product a good one (JBWeld, the slow variety,
not the quick stuff; best of the bunch by a Country Mile as you really can tap it, turn it and unlike Araldite
et al, it won't melt when it gets a little warm and wet) then go for it.
The crankcase of my lawnmower's Villiers engine is patched with the stuff

(you try welding a 40+ year old aluminium casting....) and if it'll stand up to that, then your intended repair shouldn't tax it.

Wow, its been a long time since I updated this. I havent really done alot since the last update though. I did manage to repair that chip with chemical metal, no photos im afraid.
I have been spending loads of time on my VW Camper recently so the Dolly has been put on the backburner. I went up the unit and had a giant clearout at the weekend and its motivated me to get my arse in gear with the Dolly.
I didn't realise how close I was to getting it done

I put the new waterpump in yesterday and cleaned up the starter and the spacer that goes between the engine/box. The spacer and starter are now on and I just need to bolt the box back on, then I can drop it all back in the car
Will get some pictures next time Im up there.
For now have some dodgy cameraphone ones

Nice tidy (No laughing at the back!) workspace

Waiting patiently for its engine
Thats all for now, update sooooon!

Haha, have no fear. We were just clearing up the workshop and had pushed it outside while we swept the floor.
Haven't managed to get down there yet this week, but hopefully I'll go down Thursday and get a bit more done

Spent Bank holiday Monday at the workshop. I managed to get the gearbox on the engine, fit the waterpump cover and downpipe. I then put in in the car, line it all up and bolt it in on the new engine mounts. Then I remembered that the slave cylinder needed putting back on the box

So after messing around with various spanners at arms length, got the slave on!
Just need to plumb it all up now.
Heres some pictures.
Engine ready to go in.
Car prepped ready to receive the lump.
Maneuvering.
Going back in at last
Didn't get one of the engine in place and bolted up.
Stupidly I have managed to loose some engine mounting nuts and bolts, and the nuts and bolts that held the drive flange to the prop. Can anyone tell me what size they are so I can replace them?
Heres a shot of us with the newest addition to the workshop, and my favorite thing in there I think. Having a cuppa on the new sofa at 10pm after clearing up. The end to another hard days work

Nice work! Seating is a very important bit of workshop kit.
