A bunch of photos to follow - the full resolution photo's are on the Flickr website. Please note the comments on the photo's.
Edit - Just noticed the comments only appear on the Flickr website - the comparisons are between a front laminated screen rubber and a rear toughened screen rubber, I only have the one front screen rubber, nothing else to compare with.
If people have done SERIOUS research with suppliers I can send small samples to them for their vendors. I will need proof of their endeavours before shipping. This is not a 5 minute fix, and Sprint95M has already done some sterling work, hopefully it will come to fruition for some of the rubbers soon.
It's pointless trying to measure these things - how do I measure them, a ruler is no use, a digital caliper or micrometer is no use, so please don't ask, there are too many profiles in each rubber and trim strip.
Hi Bill,
Just got in on early shift and seen your pictures.
First I would like to thank you for your effort and pictures as they explain far better than words the problems we all have.
It just goes to show the variation of the shape, even the chrome expansion profile.
Just looking forward to other comments on which way forward we go.
Well done Gary.
When I was at my parents' house I unearthed all my back issues of Triumph World and in the October 2008 edition I came across an article in the What's New section about a company called Seals+Direct who supply rubber seals. I immediately thought of this thread and these guys might be worth trying. They're still going because their website is HERE I'm sure it would be worth giving them a try.

On this forum I had a discussion with (the very much missed) JPB about windscreen rubbers because I was confused by the the part number for the front.....
JPB confirmed different seals were used for the laminated screens but the part number remained the same. This makes me think you can fit a toughened screen
into a seal intended for the laminated screen.
Is that correct?
If it is, a 300 number order becomes more feasible.
Ian.

Currently working on minimum quantity significantly less than 300 from down under but not got pricing yet. There's no point in re tooling if not necessary. 300 is way too many it would cost a fortune to fund with no commitment. Only one person has actually contacted me about my approach so guess that there's not much demand.
Wouldn't bother with rare bits their idea of a door seal for a Dolomite is miles off. They just supply not manufacturer.

I'm interested so consider this a contact. If its the same guys down under that used to supply Sprint parts that is the way to go. I would think Mark
of Aussie Sprint Parts would also be very interested.
And yes I would think a thicker toughened screen would work in the laminated seal. The problem is when a laminated (more common) screen is used
with the Baines seal that is meant for toughened ones only and listed as for Toledo and 1500.

Sorry Mark, I did not realise that I had to contact you to show an interest.
Yes I am very interested in new rubbers even if it's only a front as that is where my
problem is.
If you need me to call you I will and I have your number somewhere as I have spoken to you in the past.
Lets hope things work out.
Cheers Gary.
PS club member.
The manufacturer is asking whether we'd be interested in rear seals too but these would be for the insert type. Same quality as fronts as they use the same extrusion.
This offer would go with the fronts. It's been suggested that the TDC become sole supplier for both types.
Still need confirmation of the minimum quantity but I believe we could be looking at 50 off each perhaps price tbc also. The club needs to decide if it wants to get involved with this project. I will continue to move this on as much as I can but I need to work out the demand. I have demand for 15 or so fronts and that's not including anyone on here. Those who want fronts will probably take rears too.

Besides the offer of funding and distribution (which still stands) I need 2 front (laminated type) and 1 rear (late type with moulding) and 1 rear (no moulding)

Now that is interesting,
if a Dolomite front screen will fit within 325cm then a seal is currently available (in EPDM) here in the UK.
I have a spare screen so will need to measure it........
Why not just get 100 fronts, anybody needing a back screen rubber could then shorten the seal.....?
