I still think the Cav is an excellent car and far better than the Vectras which followed it. I don't have a Redtop but my 16v 2.0 Gls auto has 137bhp, most of which are still firmly in place after 142k hard miles, she ran a 16.03 at the performance Vauxhall show at Santa Pod in 2008 straight off the street so no slouch and still does 40mpg on a fast motorway run. Whats not to like? If the stock of cars doesn't thin out, they'll never be rare enough to be worth something!

PS Really enjoyed watching Rebecca repeatedly shutting the door on you!
16.03 is damn good. We wnt to a show recently where there was a turbo powered 8 valve

.
I had the misfortune to own a Vectra 1800 Arctic so named cos it was slow as a glacier.
We have a hill near us that the Sprint will accelerate to 70mph on and so too will my Mondeo, but the Vectra was reduced to 2nd gear crawl...........ugh far worse than a cavalier and the hateful car sruggled to better 30 mpg which my Mondeo easily does, however we bought a 2.2 Vectra and I did like that.
Yes she did try so hard to stop the Sprint coming through but just like the sunrise there was only going to be one outcome. (if it was not my daugher the chicane would have been it!)

Oh yesssss! The 8v Turbo! This is actually a factory car (often with 4wd to sweeten the deal) If I could find the bits without destroying a good (and pretty rare) car, they'd be on the Carledo before you could say ......... well, anything really!
I remember Quentin Wilson on an OLD Top Gear doing a comparison between the the Sierra and the Cav (MkII it was) and coming down firmly on the Cavs side, describing it as "a complete hooligan of a car that just loves to go fast!"

And apologies to Jonners for going miles off topic!

No worries...
I quite like the euro general. I've had a mk2 Ashtray which was a great little car with the 1.4 fam 1 engine. Before that I had a mk1 Cav 2000 GLS sportshatch, which remains one of my all time fave B road steers. I dont quite understand why the Rusellheim team could do such a good rwd chassis but they have never been able to get as good at fwd. Maybe the engineers went to Peugeot.
Tell Rebecca she needs to turn up in an HSV....

Hello All,
well, so much for moderns eh? I've just bought a modern (05 plate as newer ones are in the higher ved bracket) and to be honest its caused me to seriously consider flogging the Dolly. I rarely use it and seem to be just pushing it in and out of the garage to get at other stuff. This might be the wrong place to say this but if the right offer came along for this (spec. available) Dolly it could very well find a new owner as the result of a Modern appearing in my garage.
Regards
Jason.
