That hadn't occurred to me, but it is surprising what you can achieve if you ask nicely. I was pleased to find that the CEO seems to be a decent bloke, concerned about the reputation of his company and willing to reply to an email out of the blue from someone he doesn't know from Adam (me). However, he has said in his responses that Renold withdrew from the automative market some years ago, so the only way he could supply us with some tensioners would be if they'd retained a stash of them or by supplying some from Rolon, and we know what quality items they might be. That said, I had considered asking him whether, considering that there had been no complaints about the old stock Renold tensioners, he could ask his experts to let Rolon know how to manufacture them so they don't fall apart!
Sorry to those asking about 1850s, I personally have not heard of any issues there, but suspect Rolon now have common manufacturing and therefore common issues? Alternatively, with the larger TR7 market influencing things, it may have been dealt with?
A question to Robsport, who after all are TR7 specialists first and foremost, or S&S maybe, might elicit a better answer...

B*gger the censorship for being too specific....enlighten us (well, me especially).
I agree with what Jon says, though I've not dealt with Quiller.
I also think that the quality of new or remanufactured stuff is a problem from many sources. The FAM1718s are a prime example: I got mine from an eBay supplier, not Rimmers. But theirs are identical with the one I got – I bought one just to see. And I used the eBay one because I didn't stop and think properly: I've one of the forged UJs in there now. So I admit I was only lucky when the bolts in the one I got snapped as I was driving, and I expect I'll get the stain out of the driver's seat eventually.

The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.
Factory 1977 TR7 Sprint FHC VVC 697S (Now all of, but still needs putting together)
B&Y 73 Dolomite Sprint UVB 274M (kids!)
1970 Maroon 13/60 Herald Convertable (wife's fun car).

Unfortunately, having checked with Renold, they don't have any old stock of our tensioners left. And, as they said, they left the automotive market some 10 years ago, so I don't suppose they'll be making any more any time soon. However, the CEO's PA has kindly provided the name and contact details of the UK-based (Sutton Coldfield) owner of the business that used to manufacture the Renold designed tensioners. So, if someone would let me know who to pass this on to, the club could then enquire about having some more tensioners made.

I cant understand why you'd bother, when there is already a plentiful supply of quality French made, genuine Jaguar items at a very reasonable price. 18+ pounds from SNG Barratt. http://www.sngbarratt.com/PartSearchRes ... no=EAC3629 (See the start of this thread.) I've recently fitted one to my SPRINT
Robsport sell only the Jag item for Sprints now.
Why make work for yourselves.
Cheers,
Rob
Thanks Jer for the contact info, Schaeffler actually make a lot of Jag components already so they may take this over or a new batch may be manufactured by Jag LR in france but that's pure speculation of course.
This part covers a lot of Jags, the Jag owners club have a lot of money and clout if you see what I mean so I want to be careful not to duplicate effort. I know someone at the Jag owners club, let me see what they're doing, they may have a plan in place already.
In the meantime I recommend that if you want a new tensioner or timing chain kit you contact Robsport who are selling the correct Jag tensioners. TDC members also get a discount when using the code available in the members area.
Off topic, I know, but I went to the Robsport page and see that they sell "inlet rocker arms" for the Dolomite Sprint. I though Rimmers where the only one to have made that gaff - not that I've been studious in looking.
