Had some more fun with the Dolly this weekend.

Carrie out some general maintenance:

- Oil & Filter change
- spark plug change
- Alternator belt change
- rocker rocker gasket change
- checked and adjusted valve clearances

I also had chance to get it out in the sun!

Picked up yet another set of sprint wheels today! Have 8 of the things now!

I will be choosing the best 4 to have them refurbished and diamond cut with new tyres fitted, I will be using a 175/70/13 tyre to keep it original.

Hope to get them on soon!

So this happened today :D

Can’t wait to get them on. Also ordered GAZ rear adjustable dampers and springs today to match the fronts I already have fitted.

Should be a busy weekend!

Thanks!

I’m not too sure on cost yet as I’ve not paid for them! A friend of mine owns a Bodyshop so got them sorted for me. I got him to do 5 wheels so I have a spare also.

A bit more work done tonight:

Removed the fuel tank as I wanted to check it’s condition. Thankfully the tank is all okay and just needs a lick of paint.

The boot floor is a bit ripe but nothing a bit of underseal & Hammorite won’t sort out. I wil get the boot floor and tank painted tomorrow night ready to fit back in the weekend.

Busy weekend planned

- fit new rear GAZ shocks & springs
- clean up the threads on rear wheel studs
- fit sprint wheels & adjust ride height to suit
- paint boot floor & underseal
- paint bottom of fuel tank & refit

Some further updates. Starting to come together now.

Tidied up & painted the fuel tank and boot floor.

Had all 5 of my Sprint wheels diamond cut & new tyres fitted

Fitted my rear GAZ shocks.

All that’s left to do for now is set the height of the suspension.

Looking lovely Lewis - nice one!
I think a silver coachline would look nice on your car. I do like Brooklands green, one of the best colours for a Dolly.

The side stripes will be fitted. However I am going to have the whole car painted before that happens.

Some pictures from the weekend, over 300 miles done.

Also managed to find where the massive amounts of play in the steering is coming from, managed to trace it to be coming from the intermediate column UJ joints. So I have ordered a replacement from Rimmers & also a lower column Polly bush for the bulkhead whilst it’s apart.

Also, thought I better change some more fluids. Topped up the Diff by about 1L so that deffinately needed doing. Only about 500ml drained from the gearbox & lots of metal on the drain bung so I have replaced the gearbox oil too. Hopefully should keep it going a little longer.

Based on the small amounts of oil that came out of your gearbox and rear axle it suggests that you will be needing to replace the gearbox or Overdrive rear seal and the rear axle pinion seal.

Yes a little strange, however I don’t know the history of when/if ever the gearbox oil has been changed. I’m going to see how it goes with fresh oil as I’ve not had any issues so far. So the oil change can only help.

I also managed to get the work steering knuckle removed today ready for the new one to come & also replaced the bulkhead bush with a Polly version.
