Re: project 'gloria', THE RESURRECTION
This is the world we live in; all too busy doing the wrong things. Constantly contactable, constantly in demand, constantly wound up and ready to snap.
We forget those close to us and we forget to do the important to the trivial.
I'll tell you what we all need...one day a week when the shops are closed, the world slows down, we are at peace with each other; time to recharge, where we do nothing but rest! What a fantastic concept that would be eh?
The candle that burns at both ends burns twice as brightly...but only for half the time!!

With you on that Al, I'm sure that was what Sundays were all about...
Re: project 'gloria', THE RESURRECTION
...and this is what last saturday was about... polishing
namely mr faulkners old wheels. so for all the hundreds of people who continue to bore me to death about how to polish wheels, the secret with these was autosol liquid chrome cleaner, an hour of elbow grease per wheel followed by aching fingers and thumbs:
a sort of before and after. they werent that bad to start with as jodspeed had stored them well

elbow grease city:

spokes will soon be flatted off and painted black. eat that, shiny wheel people

Piccies of the car please..... before my head explodes in anticipation. It's a Honeysuckle thing

Re: project 'gloria', THE RESURRECTION
cant m8, no point, its not much different to previous pics. i could put spoiler, bumpers n trim on, but no point coz im just gona take half of it off again to fit spots, gota take tank out to do rear bumper etc etc, and i want the new lump in before i get excited about stuff like that.
the wheels aint on yet, got front studs to change (if we can muster enough 7/16 studs), no point in doin that yet coz the subframe is bein swopd, probably wont get em painted before they go on, and thats a LOW priority job.
interior still looks like a gypsy campsite.
im not the most patient person either, so imagine it from my point of view! i still think the fairies are gona come n do it over night, i just dont have time at the mo, and of course swappin engines isnt something you can just slap dash in a coupe of hours when new shiny paint is involved.
c'est la vie. all in good time.

Re: project 'gloria', THE RESURRECTION

its only the 1st 'draft' which is mainly to lower risk of any rogue paint spots. they'll need doing again after they've been painted, that'll be when they really bling up.
Re: project 'gloria', THE RESURRECTION
...so, an unrelenting surge of activity planned for coming weeks, just reminding myself where this thread was.
watch out for more pics coming soon
also change of plan. HL dash and adjustable steering column, and stuff, in da house, maaaan. yeah. wicked. innit.

Re: project 'gloria', THE RESURRECTION
So how did you occupy yourself for an hour whilst Jod polished?
Re: project 'gloria', THE RESURRECTION
eating cake and pringles, mostly
jods not part of our polishing club to be honest, he's more your sort of "cmon, lets get the f-in thing done" type.

Re: project 'gloria', THE RESURRECTION
yep, still on-going. sort of fallen off the radar a bit
i have made the bits of trim all shiny and lovely, and ensured all ends have little black plastic thingies in them. i have also been doing other things too, but i just cant disclose what they are.
been sticking bits of trim on with silicone gasket sealant today, until i ran out of silicone gasket sealant, dont you just hate it when that happens?!
i also found a really good use for the "triumph" silver and black laurel type wheel centre badges i had kicking around that are too big for sprint wheel centres. as tow-lee-dows dont come with D post badges, i was gona put some "TC" ones on froma 2.5, which of course could be deemed as appropriate. however...
oh, all door rubbers on now too.
the excitement and anticipation grows...

Re: project 'gloria', THE RESURRECTION
so, we continue.
saturday: rad, engine, box, dash, front wiring loom and all interior removed. poly bushes acquired.
1300 zorst manifold 'lightened' and ready for paint. 'turd polishing' apparently, but hey, shiny turds are the best.
we have some new phrases of the day:
"how are you supposed to get into this f-in car?"
"its only disconnecting a wiper motor"
i also have some very extremely useful tips that i will post shortly.
thanks again for your untiring efforts m8, what an utterly thoroughly bloody good bloke.
