The weather has not been friendly and time out of work is none existent.

Have to take out the rear boot trim for a few pics for Swanners since Stoneleigh but have not had a chance.
Will try tonight.

Rocker cover must come off for spark plug tubes, but at the same time I want to give it a clean and paint.

Does anyone know what colour the goldseal paint should be, and do I need std engine paint or an aluminium vht paint ?

You don't need VHT on there, just standard engine paint. I think Moss do the correct colour, I'm off up there today so I'll have a look for you.

Edit: I suspect knowing BL that they probably used any gold engine paint that they could get their hands on.

Hi Mahesh

It was good to meet you at Stoneleigh and thank you for your kind offer to take some photos of the inside of your boot. Please don't rush to do this, it will be a few weeks at least before work calms down enough for me to have a go at the Sprint. At your own convenience is fine! Many thanks again.

Good to hear from you George,

Sorry, was shattered at Stoneleigh, you caught me after walking (lost) around the halls for a hour and half,
not to mention I only had around 4 hours sleep.

Any other pics needed give me a shout, will get these up by the morning.

Thanks Tony, knowing my rotor arm, it probably won't need any filing.

Still not happy with the carbs on my car, but its too cold to do any real work, more a case
of grab a piece and take indoors.

Dashpot cover and suction chamber out, for a clean.

There is some damper oil in the bottom ?

Dashpot paint came off in the Ultrasonic cleaner, mind you it was set to 70c temp.

The jet in the carb pic looks a long way down (rich)?

Tony, that could be about right once you've done the 12 flats/2 complete turns down for the best starting point for the mixture.

That Lumentition kit looks a bit steep for what is basically a points & condenser replacement. For that sort of money, I would be wanting the full electronic ignition kit such as what Mad Mart uses on his Sprint restos.

Running rich, weridly colortune says no, but my nose says yes,

Hopefully the clean out and jet/needle replacement will help.

Yep, I colortuned both carbs, but they did not need adjusting at all, still have to
do the front carb, however one at a time, with testing in between.

Mind you, I still got to do this rear one.

I know in the back of my mind, as a teenager I bungled up somewhere, and the
main reason to strip them down, (one at a time) and do the job properly, (with lots
of pictures), having a scrap type set does help to learn and refer to.

Already noticed there is no washer on the damper cap, and the jet to float chamber is
slightly loose.

I wouldn't use a colortune, I have had nothing but trouble with them.

On a standard engine I have always used a gunsons gastester in the past and that has always got good results.

You can borrow mine if you like
