Re: MY SPRINT VXG 707N (W london)
I've since repaired the whole chasis rail and made new all the way to subframe mounts. fibreglassed over weld lines and undersealed over it all. So now the subframe will be held to the car by more than just the suspension nuts.lol

This big hole you see on the right was previously filled completely with a big ball of filler. Nice work
I've since welded and repaired it also.

Re: MY SPRINT VXG 707N (W london)
I sprayed engine area in high gloss 2k non metallic jet black, put the heaters on it for a number of hours then when it was fully dry and hardened I refitted subframe the next day (late xmas eve).
I've since ordered a new clutch, some heat reflective fireproof insulation(same type as used in nascar apparently) for the engine bay to replace the existing rotten foam type thing.
So, the wings, bonnet next and then the roof...

Hi everyone,
Just a quick question: what is stanpart? I know thats probably a really silly question but i've got a exhaust manifold that im thinking to smooth out the inside a bit and maybe port match, and it says stanpart on it. Is it a copy part/non original? Also has anyone got any good advice about improving the flow on these engines without going crazy with the head.
Many thanks to all replys and excellent advice on here as usual...jv

Re: MY SPRINT VXG 707N (W london)
hiya just wondering what the finish is like on the heat proof stuff that you have ordered as my car is being stripped down and i dont hold out much hope of getting the matting off the bulkhead cheers lee ps where are are you in london as you seem to be the nearest club member to me
That is...........
Original parts have this brand.johnnyv1 wrote:Just a quick question: what is stanpart?
I guess it dates back to the time when the car manufacturing companies Standard and Triumph were joined to form a single company.
The Standard name disappeared in the UK with the last of the Vanguards (its straight six engine however was developed and used in Triumph 2000s). However I believe some Heralds and later Rover SD1s were assembled in India and sold under the Standard name there.
You are making good progress with your car. A lot of people would have condemned it as too rotten to repair so good on you for getting on with the job.
A small point,
is that a (Sprintspares?) solid rack mount visible in the photograph of the subframe assembly?
Alun (xvivalve) has steering racks reconditioned and reports that some cannot be used for this because they are bent. This is believed to be as a result of a solid rack mount being employed on the offside. Advice now is to use a solid mount on the nearside only.

Re: is that a (Sprintspares?) solid rack mount
Hi, thanks sprint95m for the info on the stanpart. As for the solid rack mount, to be honest i'm not sure. i havent added anything to this area since i bought it. I will take some better pics tomorrow and have a quick inspection.
Oh, Iwalton, i haven't yet received the heat shield for the bulkhead but i will take some pics when i get it. I'm in w10,london by the way. Cheers
