Some photos from today, when back to Keiths paintshop. We had another go at fitting a new windscreen trim, which went in with out a hitch! I've also been cleaning the interior which has come up very nicely. Also ive fitted some stainless wiper blades which look better than the black ones.
nearly 400miles since the respray! The car is going well, some small niggles one of which was I was getting and alarming up and down movement from the steering column. Quick search on this forum revealed the lower bush was a common problem, had a look and sure enough the original bush was disintegrating. Now replaced with a poly replacement.

That is exactly the bit I need to get for my steering column I think! Was it a simple fit?!
My Toledo is off the road for the winter now (well, it's been off the road since October!) but there are some private roads next to me that I can stretch its legs on every Sunday just to keep things functioning!

Ash, the job is a bit more difficult because the Toledo's steering column isn't adjustable. You can either remove the U bolts for the rack to give you room to remove the coupling or you can unbolt the steering column bracket behind the dashboard. The Superflex bush is the one to get and is literally fit and forget. Getting the end of the column back in the coupling is a pig of a job but is worth it in the end.
By the way, I've got that indicator stalk if you still want it...

grifterkid: The bush certainly made a much bigger difference that I was expecting, with the steering wheel not moving around so much the steering is much more positive! Like Toledoman says they are a bit of a fiddle to fit, I loosened the column from the bracket under the dash which helped.
My car is pretty much complete now, I think! I've got a set of spitfire twin carbs that I've rebuilt to fit eventually, also i've been tidying up the cd player install which lives in the glove box. I'm sure i will find more things to do on the Toledo next year! Currently i've got side tracked with my camper van which needs some help with the aid of the trusty mig welder!
Going back to the anti-roll bar fitment... Where did you get yours from? Was it an easy fit? What kind of difference to the driving experience did it make?
When (when!!!!!!!) I get round to getting my Toledo up to scratch I would like to fit an anti-roll bar but I just want to know if the effects are worth it?

The ARB made a big difference on the Carledo. When I first built it, it didn't have one (obviously) and, because i'd modified the subframe, the stock ARB would no longer fit in the standard place, so I had to get inventive! It was well worth the effort though, since it really does what it says on the tin. It's just a stock late Sprint ARB but mounted below the radius rods instead of above and bolted up under the subframe extension.

The rear anti roll bar came from RimmerBros when they had one of their sales on I think it was about £12! Which made a small but noticeable difference. But its was the front one that really made a difference. The front one was very kindly donated by Tony (MIG Wielder) on this forum.
The front one really tightens up the front end when cornering, they should have been fitted as standard to the whole range of cars.

I can do you a 1500HL ARB with the 2 droplinks and spacers but you'll have to find the clamp plates for the subframe as they are both broken on the car I am breaking. New bushes might be an idea too but they are only pennies. The holes to fit the bar are already present on a Toledo but fitting it is quite a tussle, everyone has there own method but it still comes down to BFMI mainly!

Mat.T, how did you go about fitting your front ARB...?! Did it give you grief...?! Do you have a 'trick' to tell as I think I may need to know it if it is going to be a bit of a trying task...!!!
I cant remember the anti roll bar being particularly difficult to fit. They are usually pretty suborn things on most cars so a large bar/pole usually helps putting them in their place!
