But not with a Triumph and on a truly epic scale:


Self parking switch will probably be stiff as a result of the grease that's designed to keep it dry hardening. If water gets in, they tend to fail altogether in which case the wipers will stop where they are when you switch them off, but if the contacts in the park switch are stiff toward the other end of the sliding contact's travel, then they'll give you the problem you've found.

It's a rectangular plastic box, a couple of Inch or so in length, that simply clips to the wiper motor. Gently slide it out, equally gently remove the two green wires, one with a trace, that are attached to it and soak the whole thing in cooking oil or similar overnight. Then rinse through with contact spray such as Servisol S10 or Halfords' own which is pretty good, apply a little spray grease to the contacts, refit to the motor. Simple as that.

Thanks pal, for the advise, however, i dont have a clue how to get the wiper motor out of the little area it sits in???

He's an Update,

Well so far the mini resto's going pretty well. The front wings have had the old metal cut out, and little patch pieces welded in. They have also then had some light filler applied to smooth over the basic shape of the panel. The sills unfortunetly have gone from bad to worse, picture is the really bad wing, however, its all good as the other ones been repaired. The boots had its first coat of primer, and has come out pretty well. Hopefully the car should be ready for next week. *fingers Crossed*

Its been quite a while,

Quite a bit of work has been done to Eeyore since the last time i posted, such as buying him 4 brand new Falken 145 80 r13 tyres for him,

However, i few serious problems have arisen recently. Basically, if you read my story so far i mentioned that i've been getting quite a bit of Mayo on the oil filler cap, well yesterday i checked the dipstick and as i pulled it up, the oil it showed was milky brown, so it looks like Eeyore is mixing his oil and water together

Also, having checked the all Four pistons in the front Drums today, they all seemed to be leaking. However, having bought a Rubber seal repair kit off the bay a few weeks ago i managed to get new seals into them pretty easily. Although, having never driven a car with Drum brakes all round, the pedal travel is getting quite a bit of getting used to. Nevertheless, the brakes are strong and dont pull to one side anymore when there applied

This morning i alighned the front wheels, using the old tape measure trick, its seemed to have worked pretty well.
Thats all really, I'm planning on a full respray soon, and is trying to keep Eeyore as standard and original as possible.

I'm also Looking forward to seeing some of you guys at Stoneleigh in March, Eeyore an i will be there!!

I have to say (though I am sure you know), it's not advisable to keep the car outside with just primer on it like that, primer is by it's nature porous so any moisture will be sucked into the paint and thus into the metal below, if you can put some top coat on (no matter what colour if you are planning a re-spray) then that will seal the paint and stop that nasty moisture attacking.

...oh I love that speaker/radio set up, looks ace. Often Toledos look as though something is missing in that area but, that simply looks spot on.

yeah, i thought that mate, Dont worry tomorow, i'll put a top coat on to pretoect it till the respray

It came with the car, and it surprisingly works pretty well, However, it can only pick up BBC radio 4 and Capital Gold, Lol, I dont mind though.

How about changing the oil and see how it goes? A compression test might give you the answer.

I changed the oil a couple of weeks ago, and has now started to become milky. The cars does have a low compression on cylinder number 4, the previous owner told me about that before i bought it. Thats why the cars genuinely feels under powered most of the time (I estimate it pushing out maybe 45bhp). Also when i check the plugs, all of them apart form number 4 are a nice teal colour, but plug number 4 is always black, sooty and glazed. I think this is the reason that Eeyore's Mpg is around the 25mpg mark.

But its no worry, my Dads a Mechanic. We where planning on taking the engine out today, but i decided against it, as i need the car for Uni on monday.
