You cant get much cheaper than a TR7

I thought the T16 was pretty much O series bottom ended and hence would go with sherpa bits and an LT77.
Isn't that what's in a Disco Mpi, minus the turbo? Not a common breaker setup but must be possible.

IMO the T16 is a dog! Heavy gutless and very tall. I have done considerable work on these and on a T16 equipped Disco (rare as hens teeth)
It did indeed use an LT77 box, but with a deep, one off, ally bellhousing adaptor which doesn't fit anything else, good luck finding one!
I'm gonna stick with Vauxhall power, cheap, bulletproof and easy to get and fit!

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

I had a chap from Lowestoft come round to buy some Vitesse seats I didn't need and he has built a Herald with the 3.9L Disco engine in, it's going to Santapod soon. From the pics he showed me it looks awesome.

Dont worry! I think you are going about this the best way! The Dolly subframe is horribly restrictive on what you can fit, its probably easier to make the MX5 front clip fit the Dolly body than to marry the Mazda engine to a Dolly subframe.

There was a Purple and white Herald Coupe on the bay last week with this setup in it and a TR8 live axle. Looked absolutely EVIL!

Impressive work well done. FYI the Magenta Sprint is about to be reunited with a fully reconditioned Sprint lump and O/D 'box next weekend. About 10 tins of waxoil have also been applied after being boiled in the kettle! Good luck with the rest of your build.

Dave

P.S How much BHP have you gained by fitting the Mazda lump?

Once I have done a few miles in it I will
Fit my supercharger kit and that will give me
