Occasionally, when my tired ageing muscles need a rest, which is more and more frequently these days.

I may have eased that problem and will reveal all in due course.

Went to the Ford Rouge plant in Dearborne whilst I was on holiday and they have these funky swing chairs that mean the workers can sit down on the job and go in and under the car whilst they screw things on the vehicles. They're suspended on a huge arm and they move really smoothly and actually look quite comfy and very cool.

Inner front panel welded in.. I agreed with Derek that it's a shame to cut away good, original metal, so only half the panel was used. That's all the welding done now..I think!

Worth looking at the captive nut for the rear most battery clamp whilst you are down there?

Coming on well Reg..
What is the isolator you mention? Do you put that on before primer or just on bare patches?

Matt, IIRC isolator is used when you are not taking back to bare metal and are unsure of the provenance of what is on the panel. Also stops (reduces) the risk of 'crackling' around areas where paint has been taken down through layers. One might also use it as a general precaution.

Doesn't hang about doesn't Derek does he

Reg, this is going to be a smart Motor, One Good Job (OGJ)

Isolator/bar coat.... as Malc says. Protects against any reactions with existing layers, especially when you've no idea what's been before.

It can be heartbreaking to do all that prep and then have it pickle. Learnt my lesson many years ago. Never again would I risk not using it unless I had applied the original coat.

Just had a look at the thread. Cracking progress Reg. It wasn't too long ago We were chating at the TDCIR about your auto when you had Derek In mind for the job. Derek how's your diary looking for next year

Hi Neil, always happy to restore cars.

Reg's Sprint received another 2 coats of Primer yesterday having flatted back between each.

One last flatting back and the next pics should look all yellow like.

I love putting colour on.

Reg may even get the shell the shell back before :santa: arrives

I work at RAF Odiham, my sprint is there as well, so I'm not far down the road from you, If your serious we'll have to meet up sometime and have a chat. but I'm in afgan until feb-march. I've got so far on some resto work but kids and lack of time has halted it for now.
