I have piles of aluminium to easily create the spacers that I will make, as I do I will photograph it, but I will only be making girdle for my own use as Ken has all the right parts and knowledge to sort you guys out (thanks for thinking I could though).

Measuring for endfloat.

Dianes kitchen scales proved a weight acuracy of no more than 1 gram.

I lightened this flywheel 10 years ago and was careful to have radiused edges everywhere.
The standard one is shown for a comparison.

Fair play and respect Jon =D>

OK Ken, whilst I'm told my engine is now back in the car, what is your 'retail' on one of these girdles?

We often read about dodgy oil filters and that we should only use those with a raised lip and not ones with a stuck on washer..............this engine blocks oil outlet from the filter was alomost totally blocked by a loose filter washer remains...............once again our engines can be destroyed by something simple.
Be alert.................your Dolomite needs Lerts :D

Marking out for the

bandsaw watch those fingers Ugene

using the machine to to accurately size the block which was true to .002"

More checking get this bit wrong and the whole time is wasted I logged all the hole positions so the machine just gets on with it.

just a light cut on the main caps so that the supports do just that.......support.

Image
Time to play the fool while the CNC drills all the support bracket holes (when you get old you either get grumpy or mad)
Image
Safety specs on previous pic and safety shoe here health and safety at all times :D

Image
never cut right through cos it makes a mess and the plate could break the cutter

using a parallel to check that the dimensions are right........ :woohoo: of course they are

the finished item with the alloy supports machined to support the centre of caps.

I do not know what others have done but I made the ladder frame compress the mains by .003" so the bolts are not pulling on the block, I also doweled it in 4 places (2 each side) to maintain accuracy.
The whole job took 8 hours to complete but it should give me some peace of mind that maybe some other problem other than a cracked block will kill this engine when complete.

Pure filth that is. Loving it.

Makes me wish I still had my machining job... Almost.

Watching an utterly awful film. Drifting. Pfft. What a waste of tyres.
Could say the same to you... :P

I had an office job and gave it up. I was the buyer for the largest toolmaking company left in the UK, most of the people I dealt with were women and I have to admit that I enjoyed it but the job kept expanding into checking all invoices were correct, then entertaining customers, it got so bad in the end I was absolutely flat out all day...............sod titles and a suit I went right back to my beginings....................making things :D

Got it in one. Number 4 is out this year... Joy. Though I did spot an RS200 in the trailer. Quite a rare piece of plastic to see on film these days.

Sat at a computer will do for now, leaving the fun stuff for the weekends... Though right now it's more bike and other peoples car related, than Dolly tweaking.
Soon my pretty, soon.
