I may have to order an Ebay unit with a green ring and diy (bodge) it.
No green rings were ever fitted. That's always been one of my gripes.

Rained yesterday evening, but no water inside the car on this occasion, the last grommet may have done the trick.
Took the tunnell out for a clean and paint up, but the padding is a bit worn (more aged than worn)
are they any suppliers for this, or should I "stick with it" and just glue it down ?

I have plenty of sound deadening material but it is thinner with a aluminum top and bitumen backing.

I'd take the padding off and get rid of the rusty corner and then stick it back on. I'm not sure what glue to recommend though as Evostick
now haas a different formula to the stuff they used back then which could last 40 years in the right places...

There is somebody on ebay thats does a soundproofing felt kit for dolomite, I thinks its about £30.00. I re did mine using a large off cut of carpet underlay its about 1/2" thick, all trimmed nicely and stuck using instant contact glued it to the tunnel after I had the tunnel powder coated

Thanks guys,
I've done some cleanup on the tunnel before reading your replies, the cordless drill however only managed half a job before the motor started squealing,

Removing the black from the bezel on the clock was a lot more work than I thought it would be,
also the plastic window is easy to damage, and then a pain to cut a piece in glass, adjustment
knob just about works.
Putting the bezel back is not too bad, but having to roll the clock against metal to flatten the
bezel rear lip down is worrying.
Best I could do, (and never want to do another, rather remove and replace water pump daily)

I do have a Kienzle labeled version, but the seconds hand movement is different to this clock, which
moves once a second, as opposed to three times a second.

The way it's cleaning up, I may just lacquer instead of paint, shame it won't be seen.

I could easily clean and polish up to a mirror finish,
but what's the point, will paint the underside and leave the top.

I'd paint the top as well - be a shame to go to all that effort and have rust return after a few years. Go for a really ridiculous colour. It'll be covered by carpet for decades and imagine the shock when it's finally stripped back

I'd swear it's aluminium or an alloy, all the rust on it was trickled down from the body shell, there is no through rust.

Try a magnet on it...
I doubt its alloy...and I have had them rust right through....
