Thanks Steve, I don't think it's tester confusion - Nigel and Richard are very clued up on the differences between modern and classic cars (being classic enthusiasts themselves)
He let me climb down the pit and see the movement for myself, it did seem quite a lot. Maybe not a fail, but enough to be concerning.
I've got some poly mounts from RobSport so I can get the retest done asap, once she's back on the road I'll look at the solid mounts. I hear some people recommend 1 poly and 1 solid? And then we all have to argue over which side should be which? Isn't that traditional round here?

Let us say that opinions differ!
My own opinion is solid both ends as it's "fit and forget" but if pushed into a half and half arrangement by customer choice (ie they only want to buy ONE of Shaun's mounts) then I always fit the solid mount nearest to the column as that's the end where all the heavy work gets done!

Having passed her MOT yesterday I need to start getting as many miles as I can done to shake out the gremlins before the CT Border Raiders and the RBRR
On the M62 this morning the Speedo and Odometer stopped working, so I suspect a snapped cable or broken drive.

Off site meeting? Not a problem, I had a meeting to discuss a new Birmingham office, didn't stop me going from Sandy (Beds) but I did get told "Next time take a fleet car" when I claimed mileage and the software had trouble calculating the carbon miles as it couldn't work out the vehicle!
It was a lovely day, and something possessed me to take a picture in Snow Hill car park, maybe because it was almost home for the old thing:

A few slight oddities from the drive home....
At one point I got a really BAD stink of fuel in the cabin, but on stopping and looking around I couldn't find a reason why.
Temperature is nice and stable when sitting in traffic on a hot day! Which is good. It sits
just above the mid-point on the gauge. But seemed to climb very very slightly when cruising along gently in a 30 zone, which seems very odd and counter to what I'd expect. (Makes me wonder if the 10V regulation is wandering slightly in the hot weather?)
(Bright sunshine = bad photo!)
The other oddity is that once the temp is HOT (rather than just warmed up) the idle in "D" is too low. It stuttered and stalled a couple of times. Pulling the choke out a few mm (1/8th of an inch) cured it though.

With a high ambient and a hot engine idling at around 600rpm in drive (so basically sat in traffic) you are getting a bit of the dreaded fuel evaporation for sure. You could try slipping it into neutral for a slightly higher idle or if it gets really bad, pop the bonnet latch to let some of the hot air out! You can get up to a comfortable 60 before air pressure under the bonnet will lift it significantly!
I've no idea why paranoia about overheating is rampant amongst Dolly owners, with every tiny fluctuation of the needle being the subject of intense analysis and questions on here! Fer Gossake, it's a CAR and the weather is hot! If it doesn't boil over, it's fine!

Thanks Steve... But if you think my temperature paranoia is bad (I'm just as bad with the Spitfire 1500 if I'm honest) wait til I fit an oil pressure gauge! Then I'll be REALLY paranoid!
