Im going to be ordering a couple of those carb link rods(currently held together by strong rubber band) I will also hopefully be purchasing a gunson colortune so then I should be able to set the carb up correctly

Thanks for all the help and information about setting up my carb guys (never touched an SU carb setup before) talk about clueless :)

Thanks

been busy today ordering a few small parts..

1) Rocker cover gasket (going to check the valve clearances and re-set the gaps)
2)throttle cable (current one is really frayed at the carb end of things)
3) Carb linkage ball socket ends (currently is being held together with wire)
4) steering column support bush retaining plate (current one is all elongated causing in a slapping affect through the steering column and wheel) New plate should sharpen things up.

Hopefully if the parts above come tomorrow or monday morning, everything will be sorted :)

monday's plans are...

Replace all the rear axle bushes - radius arm bushes (tie bar bushes) trailing arm bushes (as current ones are knackered)
Set the valve clearances and check the gaps
check ignition system is all in fine fettle
new throttle cable
fit the carb linkage ball socket ends on the carb link rod
steering column support bush retaining plate (will be fitted with the superflex bush I already have) which should hopefully make the steering feel much better and tighter :D

With the recent fitment of the recomended TRW aftermarket clutch slave cylinder that is now one less thing to worry about (previously those LPR units were failing) now the clutch feels a lot better and the whole clutch mechanism feels much better to operate - so thats one load off my mind. :)

So.. when we sort out these other things mentioned above the car might feel even tighter to drive and will solve various problems
(could incorrect valve clearances cause my colortune to show a dark purple and yellow combustion flame intermittently ?)
I know It could be down to timing scatter or dwell angle etc (this will be checked out on monday (providing the fitting of those rear bushes don't take too long)

No matter how I try and setup the carb I can't get it 100% correct I know im close.. but not 100% (the super bosch 4 spark plugs had to be taken back out as they weren't seating correctly in the head... don't know why but im back to standard spec champion plugs)

Hope your trailing arms go better than my effort last week! took nearly all day to do one trailing arm!
Good luck

Hopefully we shouldn't have too much of a problem.. if the bolts don't come off with ease the oxyacetylene is going to warm things up.

I will try and post up some photo's actually - as the rear passenger side tire is VERY close to the inside of the arch - drivers side has plenty of room between the inside sidewall of the tire and the arch.
also when driving you can feel the car gently pull to the left - ease up your grip on the steering wheel when driving down a straight smooth road and the car will pull to the left.

with a little bit of luck.. the rear end should feel tight when its all done as it feels really soft at the back end at the moment.
The car should feel a lot better to drive hopefully when all is done

Thanks :)

Rob :)
