Another highlight of the day that occured to me -
Richard Old getting a special award for the frequency, dependency, and value of his contributions to Dolly Mixture.
How absolutely fantastically, brilliantly, totally right.
Well done Richard - completely deserved. I couldn't have done my tie bar bushes without your article.

An excellent day indeed. Many thanks to Andy and all the team for another excellent show. Well done too on the increased publicity, it was great to see so many other Triumphs this year. Sorry I didn't spend much time on the stand. Days like yesterday remind me how many great people I've met through this club, I spent so much time saying hello and chatting the day simply flew by.
Mrs Weevil and I both had a great day. If we are there again next year try to get down to the farm for one of the falconry shows, it's well worth the £5.75 entry to the farm just for that. The chap who does the show is as mad keen and enthusiastic about his birds as we are about our cars and spent a long time chatting after the show had finished. Don't ask about the Jack Russell tho.
We had a nice drive across to Mr Speedys workshop to pick up a 'box (thanks again Speedy), view the Sprintfire (cool, me want) and workshop (colour me very, very green). After a half at the pub next door we meanderd gently along the A45 and A5 with a couple more stops for a picnic and taking in scenery. A last half at another canal side pub in Milton Keynes and we headed for the M1 to be home about 9:30. But every muppet in the land seemed to be on the M1 struggling to get their X5s, Previas & Galaxies through the narrow sections. Articulated lorries manage it so why do these buffoons have to slow to 20 to tiptoe into the narrow stretches? Why do they have to slow by slinging out the anchors? More to the point why are they allowed to keep their licenses, or for that matter why are they allowed oxygen?? Rant over. After that we eventually joined the M25 which managed a whole 7 miles before we came to a total halt. We got turfed off that by the boys in blue after a half hour or so. A bit of 'use the force' navigation put us back on at the A/M40. The M25 then apologised for the inconvenience by letting us drive through the Staines to Chertsey stretch without the speed limits on and at cruising speed

Only the 3rd time that's happened in driving it daily for the last year. Got home at 11 and fell straight into bed. A complete knut of a journey but I got off oh so lightly compared to Alun & Martin, I feel your pain chaps. Left the house at 06:00 with Orange still stuffed to the roof with all yesterdays swag.
Thanks to Chris for delivering the cams and starter motor yesterday, you're a gent. Your car looks as good in the flesh as it did in the pictures. Sorry I forgot to listen to it. Thanks Susie for the door, Alun for the Alternator, Tony for the megajolt bits, Mike for the other door and various others I'll recall when I unload tonight.
Last word, leave off the shed bashing! It's the rustomites turn again next year. I have a full set of shiny doors to go on her but I could probably make the tetley doors go another 12 months

My favourite bits of the day were, in no particular order, being told 'You must be Jod Clark, I could tell by the sarcasm', seeing Martin and Reg again for good conversation, discussing go-faster Toledos with Kevin and looking around at some very well presented cars, especially the beautifully presented 1500 with added shiny bits.
Poor Alun though, ending the day with a trailer and a car both needing varying levels of surgery. I have days like that all too often, but at least Al has several spare Sprint parts around the place...

Yes.... My thanks to the organisers as well. It was only my second TDCIR, but it was really fun. It's always good putting some faces to your forum names.
Thanks to everyone who offered such kind comments about my new Sprint. ..... I''m very proud... She got me from Leeds to Hatton through loads of standstill traffic with the temp guage never raising above the 1/2 way mark. The only cause for concern was the right side speaker cutting out during the middle of my Johny Cash singalong with the Wife.
I think I might need to investigate the accuracy of the spedo following Dave Poth's observation of my 95mph progress down the M40. I had no idea!

See if you can borrow a sat nav for a couple of hours. Most have an actual speed readout and they are very accurate.

Had a great time & likewise don't know where the time went. It was good to catch up with everyone & meet a few more faces. Unfortunately Mary wasn't feeling very well & decided not to come which was a pity as she'd been looking forward to it as much as I.
I now have 2 more brass expansion tanks to clean up

one will go on Project KDF. Thanks to Reg for taking the spares for Jonners & thanks also to Colin for the trolley jacks.
Sorry to hear about the demise of your engine Martin, hope it won't put you off of future track days.

Chris, I think it's probably more my speedo than your one, Ford ones are notoriously innacurate.
And Mart, I think we'll be ok with that police car on the bridge by Gloucester; they can't use a radar gun while their car is moving.

No I know

. I just looked up & saw it and then it moved off, I thought it was coming to get me.

Then that BMW screamed past & I thought they might go after him.

Unfortunately I was without Dolly this time (for the 2nd year running!) due to the axle woes.
Thanks for your offer Bruce but I didn't have room because the boot of my Acclaim was full of camping gear and I don't want to ruin my nice unmarked interior. Besides, Acclaims aren't exactly suitable for transporting Dolly rear axles. I'll keep you in mind though.
Glynn, can you please get back to me as soon as you know the ratio of the axle in the club stores in Chesterfield.
It was a really enjoyable day meeting friends old and new and putting faces to the names. I liked Paul's early Sprint. Is VA124 the 4th oldest or is there another Sprint between VA41 & VA124?

VA122 still exists, its sitting in store with a blown engine, BK owns one in the teens and VA82 was sold on ebay a few years back

My day at Hatton was the first normal day I have had in six months,
My new to me 1850 flamenco HL with black vinyl roof,TOF 325S(only had it for a week),drove great four hundred miles in a weeks ownership,And I felt guilty about all the nice comments about the car,and it was great to meet such nice people,And see the cars from the forum,It might only be a field with a few old cars,But a great landmark of moving in the right direction for me, I start stem cell treatment next week, but after that I will get my 1972 1850 auto to the standard that prevailed at Hatton,
see you next year Mike
