Aiaiaiai......thats great progress man
You just bought the car......
I follow this thread carefully, and i have spent lot of time reading your pre threads.
Very informative for me who is new to the game
Thanks...keep up the good work....
As an aside, Jon the sprayer took delivery of an MGC project last week. This is it all ready to go for soda blasting...
This MG has been restored believe it or not. It was restored a few years ago but hadn't left the workshop where it was done. All the new owner has done is stripped it down to the bare body shell.
Anyway, he's spending between 20-30k on the resto over the next couple of years.
Sprintless for the first time in 35+ years. ... Still Sprintless.
Engines, Gearboxes, Overdrives etc. rebuilt. PM me.
Excellent as always Mart. It might be worth just trial fitting a spoiler to the front valance. It looks as though it might be an aftermarket pressing, nothing wrong with that, but, from my experience the ends tend to be a bit out and yours caught my eye. best to find out at this stage as rectification is easy if there is no shiny Inca yellow to me messed with.
No updates, although the shell should be back with me by March. I took the spoiler down today and just as well, as the front valance does need a bit of fettling to bring it in-line with the spoiler.
He's got an Austin Healey 3000 track car in for a respray. I'd like one of those as a project.

One always hopes one's observation helps. Look forward to seeing it in the 'paint'. Inca yellow was always a Favorite of mine, sold my first Sprint in Tahiti when I acquired my Inca Sprint (which I still own today) even if I was normally seen around in a White Sprint.
Colour prefs do change over the years and ironically, a Tahiti blue with black interior is quite a rarity these days.
OK, I'm back on the job after a bit of a lean spell.
Here's a pic of a rebuildable upper ball joint which has just been refurbed with a new kit and shimmed. The book says to allow a 0.004" end float. (not in the Haynes manual). When rebuilding these, rebuild them dry and when you are happy with the end float take it apart again and reassemble, packing the joint with grease.
I spent some time cleaning & reassembling the brake calipers and spraying the subframe. I'm hoping to start on reassembling the subframe assembly tomorrow.
VHK will hopefully be back with me in the next couple of weeks so having bought a new cover, the track Sprint has now been demoted to the drive.

I had a look at the steering rack. Both mounts need replacing, one gaiter was split (had a new one in stock) and a TRE rubber was shot.
I then turned to the carbs. On stripping them I noticed that they have the poppet valves on the butterfly valves but have the non-waxstat jets. I'll just change the butterfly valves as I have plenty of them.

Nice to see you back on the job Mart. It's been worth the wait, looking forward to the rebuild. It feel's like this project of yours is taking forever
On the CT site, there is a lady with a Herald in Bristol, looking for a sprayer in the area and I told her to pm you as the guy you use seems to do a good job. And Weston isn't a million miles away.
All the best
Darren
