Your garage is amazing. Can I ask what is the floor covering? I painted mine with garage floor paint, but I find that tyres stick to it and rip it up, even after years of applying it.

The car is amazing too. I would be bothered about driving it and getting it dirty. That's why my cars are usually scruffy - at least that's my excuse.

I'm not happy with the garage floor covering, I'm going to coat over it with the one I had on my last garage which was made by 'Spencer Paints', that was really durable, this one's not so good unfortunately - it needs a lot of maintenance!

I have lived in Enfield, 2 mins from Lavender Hill Garage...since 1978...how have I never seen this around!

Image
There was a Mk2 Escort 5 miles from my home that appeared at a car show approx 10 years ago that I had never seen, the car had been here since new in 1978, I'm 54 years old and a Ford 'nut' all my life but I had never seen the car - we only have a population of 26k people...… I've been asking myself that very same question.

Enjoy your Sprint mate, my first love was a Sprint when I was about 10 years old, took me 42 years before I actually bought one.

I mentioned in one of the earlier posts that there was a factory flaw in the passenger door that needed sorting, it was sitting in from the front wing enough to catch your eye and there was no more adjustment to allow it to come out, and was really irritating to look at, especially when looking down the side of the car. It didn't look to be anymore than about 1mm which sounds like nothing, but it really did stand out enough to need sorting. You can see it in this photo.

Image

I got some stainless sims made up and had them powder-coated, so they'd blend in and not be noticeable, which I'm really glad to say they're not, you can't see them all which I'm really pleased about. Because I didn't know what sizes we needed and the bottom needed less adjustment to the top, I got them made up in 0.25mm, 0.5mm, 0.75mm and 1mm.

Image

The top took 1mm to get it flush with the wing, and the bottom 0.5mm - it's sounds like really small sizes to have been that noticeable, but it was, what a difference it's made and well chuffed with how it's sitting.

Cleaning the interior and fitting it. I got someone to valet the carpet and seats for me, I didn't want to tackle the seats purely down to their age, I was concerned that too much rubbing would loosen the cloth from any foam backing, if that's indeed the way they're made, I know some seats have foam glued to the cloth and age and cleaning separates them, so left it to the professionals.

Cleaning the Ziebart off all 4 door plastic covers was a real struggle, it tested my patience..... but I got there in the end.

The door cappings have been re-veneered, I showed that in a previous post.
