As above not really much to report.
Busy at work and not had much time on the Sprint.
Steering column to Steering rack UJs and splined rods. are mocked up.
Bit of Lathe work then last fit before hopefully all there.
Steering arms reversed to gain that all important Ackerman angle.
Remember my Escort Quick rack sits in front of the crossmember.
Leaving the Dolomite rack in its original position would mean a custom sump.
But more importantly the column would have fouled the exhaust manifold as it now sits on the offside.
Little but slow steps forward.
Fuel tank
Return to tank builder to replaced the Barbed flow and return to AN8 and AN6 fittings. which was an oversight on my part.
Will need the extra size when the full supercharged Rotary is on full flight.
Still lots to do.

I now have steering.
Need to play with the steering arms to get somewhere close to get the correct Ackerman angles.
Will probably need some custom made steering arms.
Similar to the Triumph Stag.
Where it’s picks off the centre spindle and what would have been the brake calliper support.
Slowly getting there.

Just got my hands on a Adaptronic RX8 Plug and play Engine ECU.
Which should make wiring up the engine side a lot easier.
Plus is fully adjustable for when the supercharger is fitted.
Little steps forward.

Stripped out the rear axle to fit the Ken Clarke Rear Disc Conversion.
Also check the rot around the boot floor.
Clean the trailing and radius rods.
Trailing arms at Shotblasters.
One radius rod thread stripped.
Replacements rods from Alun and a few other items.
Replacement Radius rod welded axle washers from Chris Witter.
Old ones are pretty nonexistent on the axle.
REAR disc conversion.
Discs don’t fit as I have larger Stag rear hub/Flanges.
Brackets and calliper’s all okay (Phew).
Handbrake cables and backplates shims from Sprint Spares.
Troll thru the brake discs catalogue.
Found a likely candidate from a Honda Civic.
Needs the centre hole englarged to fit the stag Flange.
Also discs need turning down to 240mm from 262.mm.
Redrilled to Stag PCD.
Machine shop destroys a bearing taking the flanges off the half shaft.
Why beggars belief.
Replacement bearings from Alun.
All brake parts boxed up and going to the engineers Wednesday,
Hopefully a quick turn round
Will try and get some photos next time at the barn.
Once all the parts are back together.
So if it all works they be some Sprint Back Plates Drums and other parts for sale.
If it doesn’t work they be a Sprint Rear Disc conversion complete kit for sale. LOL.

I think i used rover 600 rear disc on my setup, if your not going to use a back plate your have to take the thickness off the original back plate in account and get a spacer made
i made the same mistake i originaly bought escort disc but as im using Stag wheels the escort ones wouldnt fit over the flange

Handbrake cables and backplates shims from Sprint Spares.
Already sorted.
As I have the discs already and the Stag flanges need slight machining I’ll stick with the discs I have for now.
Just had a quick look most Rover 600 have 260mm rear discs.
But the PCD is correct.
But could be an option if I need another set of discs later.
Leaving 260 discs will need a different calipers brackets.

I left my disc at 260mm but i did have to open up the centre hole just a bit,to fit over flange, my front disc are also 260mm
If you need me to make a template for my caliper bracket to Sprint axle let me know

I could simply give my calipers mounting bracket to the engineer and just say make this 10mm longer in length.
Which would be the easiest thing to do.
New to This.
What brakes are you running on yours.
Just ordered up an adjustable Fiesta Panard rod.
So I can adjust it whilst in situ.

My rear brake calipers are Rover 45 ( same as MGF ) my Disc are Rover 600 like to keep it in the family
Front Caliper Ford Puma Disc Citron Picasso
P.S Is the fiesta panard rod for the hand brake adjustment ?

Sorry it’s a Panhard Rod.
Fits between the body and the axle.
Designed to cut sideways axle movement.
As fitted to the Fiesta Mk 1/2 XR2 had a round tube.
And Quick Sprint.
(If you know this Sprint you know)
I would have liked a watts linkage set up.
But this will be okay for now.

Shock time.
What shocks are people running and poundage and length.
Shocks on the project are over twenty years old Spax adjustable and been stationary for about fourteen.
Gaz are cheaper than Spax but what’s better.
Or is there another alternative.

All dry built up and looking good.
Need to Drill and tap holes to secure disc to flange.
Dial gauge on half shafts to get the correct end float.
Pack out bearings with grease.
Find the correct length bolts for the caliper brackets. I have them somewhere.
Weld radius rod washers to axle.
Route and Secure Handbrake cables to axle.
Brake hoses to source and brackets on axle.
Rear callipers will get overhauled before final refit.
The other advantage to the rear Disc conversion is I can get a speed sensor inside the disc for the RX8 ECU.

Are you going to make your own hoses ? to get the length required

Will measure them and get them made up.
Some things I just don’t do.

You may know this already but i though id point it out, where the hoses comes out of the calipers have a 90 dec bend, so the hose doesn't sit as high, reason being when the axle is back in the car and in the high point after a bump the hose could hit the inner wheel arch
