Another excellent, if very tiring day.
Delighted to see so many old friends and to make a few new ones. Just sorry I couldn't get there earlier. Increasingly, these events are about talking to people rather than buying stuff for me! Still, I managed to buy some nice microfibre cloths, and some of that Belgo alloy polish that Phil recommended. Kev's and my experiment with Toledo boot seals also gets a chance to move to the next phase too.
I thought the stand looked excellent and the 2nd prize was deserved and a real credit to all you guys who had make such an effort. I saw Mike walking across the car park in the aforementioned green suit and actually thought I had received a bump on the head and awoken in 1972! Outstanding!
I managed to connect everybody with the parts I had taken up there which was also a result. It is comforting to know that the two engines and a gearbox that I took up for Jod have already travelled across the south of England at three figure speeds before they have received his magic touch.
Nice to meet you Alan, and many thanks for the engine stand. Also good to talk to Steve, Neil and Liam for the first time. Got the old core to Malc and a starter and alternator to Alun, so it all went well for me. Rob, Mark, Glynn - I will write something for the magazine - I promise!
Then it was back in the Rangie for the schlepp back to Bromley to pick up my daughter, then down to Wiltshire to drop her back at her mother's house. Then finally back up to Kenley, and bed! Over 550 miles under the wheels and on just over one tank. Roll on next time....
Martin.
