Tyre wear (being a bit tight) is one reason I've resisted putting my Elise on the track, the Pirellis I have on it at the moment are a bit 'soft', but beings I haven't driven it this year at all yet and its half past March I suppose I have a bit of tyre wear 'credit'. I can just imagine getting pulled on the way home with illegal tyres at 3 pts per corner!
For that very reason I have a set of rims with worn track tyres on, which I take cos if you try and explain to the cops that your worn tyres grip better than treaded ones I can almost hear "the laws says otherwise sir"
This was the first time in years that I have used my road tyres.

That pug was driver was an Idiot. Not once did he lift to make passing a bit easier. As for tyre wear that trac is so abrassive the left side of all 4 of mine have taken a beating. More wear there than on two dry goodwoods on the same tyres. If you intend to do lots of track days then a spare set of wheels is the way forward I just use my road tyres because I never intended to track this car so I'm not quite sure how i've done 3 in four months :scratchin:

It always amazes me that the organisers give a good sound briefing on track manners and what to do and some idiots just dont listen, back a few years overtaking in corners or entering them was allowed and so I did I have to own up that I make out the Sprint has naff brakes and still go up the inside when someone wont lift off.

Good idea for the Sprint...totally impossible with an Elise that would get driven to the track...unless I trailered it, in which case it wouldn't matter if the tyres were bald on the way home :|

At close to £80 per corner that would be an expensive day out!

Aren't dolly wheels the same PCD? I'm sure someone could lend you some 1300 rims to get to and from the track on. Might be a bit lively on roundabouts though... :P

I run goodyear f1's on my rx7 and they normally see 3 trackdays and much abuse in between. A mate used to run these on his elise and allways drove that to and from the track.
