How to resto the door top capping vaneer?
In the Sprint the door top capping vaneer looks not good anymore. It has several scratches and the clear varnish has some cracks. Has anybody already restorated these wooden caps and if yes is it an easy job (just sanding the varnish away, use very fine sand paper at the end for the wood blowing the dust away with pressured air and painting new clear varnish on) or are there some tricks or is the veneer may even so thin that you will be sanding through?

Door Cappings
I have recently done a set. I stripped the varnish with Nitro Mors specialist varnish remover (for fine woods and veneers). You have to apply the stripper twice taking as much off the first time using a 1200 grade scotchbrite pad. Any remaining varnish can be scraped off gently with the side of a decorators filler knife. The surface should be prepared using white spirit on a 1200 grade scotchbrite pad and wiping off with a lint free cloth. I then used Colron wood dye (Burmese Teak). The cappings were finished with Plasticote gloss acrylic clear varnish, from a spray can, but you will need at least two cans to do the cappings in total.
