Midland Meeting: New Venue, Day and Time
From this point forward we will have a casual get together at 8pm on the first Tuesday of each month at the Drake's Drum public house, Kingstanding. The pub address is 11, Old Oscott Lane, Kingstanding B44 8TR. The venue is already used these nights by members of both CT and TSSC so there should be a bit of variety (not to mention company for me when no-one else turns up!)
First meeting will therefore be this coming Tuesday: 07 April 2009.
All welcome...

Re: Midland Meeting: New Venue, Day and Time
Sounds good to me - I was hoping there would be a Midlands meeting again. Not sure i'll make this Tuesday (depends on work) but will pencil the ones in after that.

Within staggering distance for me, excellent. If I can get some oil up to the rockers of this Fester and have a Vectra water pump done by then I should be able to make it

Re: Midland Meeting: New Venue, Day and Time
Well, I finally remembered the date and went along to the Drake's Drum last evening where the organisers Chris and Roger (1500HL owner who came to the Black Horse once) made me and my Mate Dave very welcome indeed. There were probably a dozen assorted Triumphs and 40 folk there, some meet early at 7ish for a bite to eat prior, convivial chat, raffle etc. Andy P has forwarded to me the report of the meeting from the CT forum:
So this meet and the one during summer months are now confirmed as the new Midlands meet. Chris is all for co-operation between the Clubs; as car numbers and members dwindle this can be our only future...April saw 40 members arrive at the Drakes Drum here in sunny Birmingham, a very varied collection of cars two Mk1 2000 saloons, a Mk2 2000 and a Mk2 PI . Other cars were a rather nice 1200 saloon and 13/60 convertible other Heralds and couple of Vitesses, lots of Spitfires, a GT6 and a rather fetching modified Dolomite Sprint.
May 10th sees us at Sandwell Historic Vehicle show, 16 cars are to attend on the club stand http://www.geocities.com/transtaruk/sandwell.html so do come and see us on the stand.
From May to September our second monthly meetings occurs at 8pm on the third Tuesday, this takes place at Tally Ho!, Police Training Centre, Pershore Rd, Edgbaston Birmingham, B5 7RD so make sure your cars taxed!
The Triumph Car Club is made up from members of Club Triumph, TSSC, 2000/2.5 Register and the Dolomite Club

Well I for one will be there! I can't wait to show off Scarlets shiny, colour coded, newly rebuilt engine - I picked her up from Jod's today and she's running like a dream!!
Hope to see some of you there (I need an audience....)!

What did he do to it Alun?
I was hoping to see Quick Sprint in the flesh....

Re: Midland Meeting: New Venue, Day and Time
It went something along the lines of 'now don't go down to the end of the street and do a U-turn because I don't want to hear it at full chat zooming up my road' and sure enough I didn't. Still, if your propshaft is going to break then its probably best that it breaks at almost 0 mph and not on a track or a rolling road...

Re: Midland Meeting: New Venue, Day and Time
Well that was a cracking night!
Good company, free cake, a welcome shout out from the organisers and a luxury mystery prize in the raffle!!.... Plus wall to wall Triumphs - what more could a person ask for
It's a shame you couldn't make it Alun - you really missed out!

Re: Midland Meeting: New Venue, Day and Time
I know, I felt real guilty last evening, but didn't finish the necessary here until 8pm. I hope you weren't there on your own, but it shows the principle of piggy backing with the other Clubs meaning no-one will ever turn up to be the only one there is working....
