I may have sold my Dolly, but I have still been working on the "MyGarage" software.

For those that don't know, "MyGarage" is a software application you run on your computer for keeping the histroy of your car, including warnings about forthcoming mot's etc. - A bit like Microsoft Outlook... but for cars !

The latest version has just been released, and includes major changes to the picture / galleries, and an export / import feature so you can pass on the history to the next owner. Selling the Dolly bumped that one right up the development list !

For your free download please see http://www.mygarage.org.uk :D

Another new version (1.8.1) - now you can see just how much you have spent on your cars between 2 dates (scary stuff), and it provides a guestimate on how much fuel is left in your tank.

Hi Adrian,

What format is the import / export data? Something open such as XML or proprietary?

The main reason I've not tried MyGarage is I don't want to retype the data I already have in electronic format. This could be my way in....

Julian

The import / export is an XML file, but is is my own schema. The purpose is to be able to export data from one mygarage database to another (i.e. passing data on to a new owner).

what format do you have your data ? Maybe I can easily add another import routine from CSV data for example.

Cool. It's in excel at the mo. I'll download MyGarage and have a play, set up my cars and add a line or two of petrol data the export and add the rest to the XML would be the plan of attack.

Sorry - not quite that simple - the import will add a new car to the database with all the data.

You could add a test car, with a couple of fuel purchases and run an export of that to get the XML schema. Then replace the test car data with your own, and all the XML chunkcs for each fuel purchase and pull it all in 1 go.

Is it just fuel purchases you want to add ? - I could easily add a CSV fuel import routine to it, to run at any time.

Sure if you think others might benefit from it too why not. I'll test drive it for you.

I'd be interested in that too. I've got fuel consumption logs going back 11 years for my VW Beetle - also in Excel.

With 2 requests for this feature I can bump it right up the development list !

Currently working on the next version which will include a new "previous owner history", so you can put in a list of all the previous owners (if you have the info), including the dates from and to.

Another new release of My Garage Manger. Now version 1.9

Loads of improvements to the software, plus the ability to log previous owners of your vehicles

For full details see http://www.mygaragemanager.co.uk/Download.html

Starting work on version 2.0 now, which so fas has the bility to set vehicles as miles, or kimolemeters, and work out fuel efficiency in the units of your choice (mpg ; litr/100Km etc)

Time for a new keyboard?

Good to see a project like this being actively maintained, so many seem to fall by the wayside after one or two versions... I would try it, but I don't have an XP machine to hand...
