I've signed it too... Hopefully we all will.
Perhaps this link should be somewhere more obvious. Like a sticky at the top of the main page?
Thanks

Come on, just because we voted for someone and they're supposed to listen to us and act on our behalf, you don't think they actually will do you? And Gordo will never give up the revenue will he.

Best we can hope for is that it starts to roll again next time the tories get in. I very seriously doubt we'll ever see a forward jump like has been requested. Think of how many refund requests the DVLA would suddenly receive. At the time it stopped rolling there was a rumor that it would start again when we reached 35 years. Now we are nearly there and we have a 'government' (I use the term loosely) that can say to over a million people 'Yeah, we hear what you are saying but feck you, we're gonna do what we want'. What chance is there for 500?
That site should be shut down. It has been proven to be worthless.
Personally I'd like to see the exemption roll again from 35 but skip every 3rd year.

In the Republic of Ireland, a few years ago the govenment gave people money ,£500 I think ,to get rid of the old rips off the road, to buy newer cars .
Dont know what the classic car people did about fighting it.
Tony.

Tony.
Just come back from 10 days in the Republic in Elly (1850HL). Literally the oldest cars we saw all week were '93-'94. I saw one lovely 1973 classic Datsun and that was it. I vaguely remembered some kind of incentive to scrap old cars and this was obviously it. Its bizarre, it makes Ireland look like an incredibly wealthy country (which I guess it is!), the only people driving old cars are "eastern european migrants" according to my wife's Irish uncle!
Jake
ps I can recommend the Liverpool - Dublin P&O crossing if you are going from the NW to Ireland. Yeah, its 8 hours, but you get 2 three course meals included in the price, cabins are only £15, and there were only 4 other cars and 8 other passengers on the way out!
