Well done, Mart! (I haven't checked back in the Forum for a while, so this is belated - been playing with my "new" 2009 335i Coupe recently.) Hard to believe that it was the end of November that Alex and I were picking up PFJ from you in Weston-super-Mare...and here you and your right-hand-assistant have already cranked out another one (that looks even better). PFJ is still running like the proverbial freight train - LEJOG did not phase the old girl at all. Just turn the key, and she is ready to do whatever is asked.Mad Mart wrote:Phew! finished (well near as damn it). Been trying desperately to get it ready for Castle Combe tomorrow. We went for a sedate drive this evening, with Mary at the wheel. The strange intermittent squealing noise we heard yesterday was still there so we popped back home & I jacked it up & removed the right front wheel. Spun the hub & realised it was the bottom heat shield was touching the disc. I think the MoT tester did that.

Re: Project THJ (Magenta Sprint)
On the way back from TDCIR last Sunday we popped in to see Richard Dredge, who some of you will know. He is a motoring specialist in photography, writing & research. We did a photo shoot with him last year with PFJ as he was down in Weston covering the classic car show. Last year he only took static shots but this time we got some on the move as well. I'm really chuffed with the photos but can't decide which ones to print out to be hung on my wall. Here are a few but I have loads more.

Its inspirational to see what you guys have achieved with this restoration/rebuild. The posts certainly are a great help to those of us plodding along with our own restorations - Love the colour - Well done

I'm loving the rolling shots - stunning car in stunning photos. It doesn't get much better than that.
Re: Project THJ (Magenta Sprint)
Cor, those photos are fantastic! You should sell them as posters, or calenders or something
THJ certainly looked great at the TDCIR weekend

Re: Project THJ (Magenta Sprint)
Nice Pics - how was the camera mounted? I'm guessing some sort of camera rig was used, especially for the low angle one? (I'm a bit of an amateur Photographer )

Re: Project THJ (Magenta Sprint)
Nope, no camera rig, just Richard, squeezed into the rear of a hatchback (can't remember what it was now) with the tailgate in the air & camera in hand. We were doing about 30 mph. On the way down the road his assistant, driving the car (obviously), would pull over to the right hand side of the road & I would move to within a foot of the rear of her car but on the left hand side. Then, on the way back, I would move out to the right hand side of the road and get to within a foot of her car again, so that we had shots from both sides.
