Anyone going to the Le Mans classic this year?

I've never been before, but it is a regular event for the TR Register. I have not heard any of the other guys say a bad word about it.
The only thing that seems to differ their opinions about it tends to relate to the individual camp sites!!

Been once to the classic and it is well worth the trip. It is the finest classic car show I've seen. Here are some comparisons to other events you may have sampled:

The Le Mans 24 hour always attracts a huge turnout of classics, easily enough to keep you busy all weekend without setting eyes on the race if you so chose. Unsurprisingly the classic event is far far better.
The Bromley pageant is billed as the worlds biggest one day classic car show, unsurprisingly being at least two days the Classic Le Mans is much bigger and that's just considering the static element.
The Goodwood festival of speed is just dreadful by comparison. Dire and dull. Dismal. Dreadful even.

The only other event that may hold a candle to it is the Revival but I can't afford that so cannot compare them.

If your favourite Top Gear clip is the Stig taking a Caterham around the track then the classic is for you. If you go and can arrange it take a mountain bike. There are vast numbers of classics and interesting machinery in the camping sites, I couldn't walk them all in the time available.

Plus the opportunity to stick your head under the bonnet of all sorts of pedigree cars in the pits is fantastic......literally millions of pounds worth or metal for you to nose about, and the mechanics/owners are generally pretty friendly (if they are not under pressure to fix for an upcoming race)
Plenty of chances for a beer/barbeque etc as well as chilling out with like-minded people. Fantastic
I cannot rate the whole thing highly enough. Need to be there more tahn the weekend ideally (I arrive midday thursday, leave monday midday, even then I feel a bit rushed at times)

Anyway, been to the 24 Heurs du Mans many times and will go again in the future, but you've both sold me on the classic and thank you again for the inspiration.

Slightly off the subject but motorsport and Dolomites... there is a super modified Sprint from Germany still racing in Special Touring Cars format, the races for 2010 are in Austria, Luxembourg & Germany with the Sprint attending the Austrian & German circuits.

The engine reputably produces 270 ps and is not turbocharged, just very well thought out and assembled. It's also very reliable. The driver won the championship in 2008 and won class + 2nd overall in 2009.

The car regularly beats Porsche and Ferrari cars and is particularly well driven.
