Hi, a new boy here, so thought id say hello. Picked up a sprint a couple of weeks ago, bit of an impulse purchase but have always fancied one, have got a soft spot for triumphs having run a MKII vitesse convertible a few years ago. Then got into TVRs (have still got one) Sprint needed some bits and bobs doing but goes in for MOT Monday, so I look forward to plenty of advice once ive run it for a bit and find out what else needs doing. Have sent my form of to join the club, so look forward to meeting some of you :bluewave:

Hi Mark, Welcome to the forum. Please do post a photo for us, and let us know if you have any history with the car. It may have previously belonged to someone else on here. Good Luck with the MOT .
Cheers for now,
Tony.

Thanks for the welcome. Very little in the way of history unfortunately, picked it up from a guy in taunton, russet brown in colour, brown carpets, :?: brown seats, I love it, as i was getting very nostalgic for the 70s! I will post some photos once I work out how. Will update on MOT in the week. One question, previous owner said he ran it on unleaded with no problems, is there anything I should look for or change, just to be sure?

:?:

Hello, welcome to the forum; 1850s and Sprints are fine on unleaded fuel as the valve seats must, by default, be hard enough, anything softer wouldn't expand sufficiently to stay put in the surrounding aluminium of the head. People who claim that "conversion" is required are talking through the wrong hole. :wary:
Originally designed for 4-star fuel in terms of the octane requirement, you may find that (95RON) Premium is fine, but if it pinks, either use Super (Shell VPower is, at 99RON, the equivalent of something between 4 and 5 star) or retard the ignition by a degree or two. :)

Welcome. Did you get your Sprint off ebay? I'm sure I saw a Russett one on there a few weeks ago in the west country - looked a nice example.

Thanks for the welcome gents, its a fab forum.

Although I live in the north I work a bit in london, and have been to the ace cafe etc for a look, when/where are the triumph meets in this area :?: Also as previously mentioned, i put the gaz shocks that came with the car on it and didnt take any measurements as car wasnt sitting right anyway, what should the ride height be on a well set up sprint and where do i measure from:?: have done a couple of miles since getting mot and noticed wobble on steering and 2 of the threads on wheel nuts on 0SF had stripped, is this a common problem, or i am i doing something wrong :?:

I live in NWales just outside chester, can anyone recommend a garage in that area sympathetic to sprints for the jobs beyond ny limited capability :?
