Does anyone have the part number for the clips that hold on the chrome trim that goes around the rear of the roof? Do Bresco do them? How many should be fitted?

Also, the little chrome "feet" at the base.. are these held in with one of the same type of plastic boot clip as the boot badges? I can't remember,as it was over a year ago I took them off!

The part no. is 627362 but this is also the same part no. they give for the boot lid clips, although these are completely different in shape they will both do the job. Not sure if Bresco stock either but it's always worth giving Howard a call.

There should be 14 fitted.

Yes, chrome feet are held in with badge fixings.

627362 is the part number I have in the book, Rimmers cross reference is GHF1154. The book shows 14 for the roof, 15 for the rear J's and boot trim. So I'm guessing at 4 on each J and 7 on the boot and 7 for each windscreen trim.
The book also shows 614006 for the feet of the roof trims, Rimmers cross reference GHF1532, this also fits the "D" badge on the rear pillar and the boot badges.

The 627362 have been responsible for the vast majority of the rust on my car, once derusted and retrimmed (I intend to hold the 627362 onto the edges with Tiger grip then fit the trim) the trim will be sealed with silicone sealant, hopefully preventing the retaining clips from rusting through the zinc coating and damaging the paintwork in another 35 years!

I've just had an "interesting" time refitiing the offside J trim to the rear of the car. The nearside went on fine some weeks ago. The offside has suffered a very slight knock in the past, so the trim doesn't quite fit flush. Oh well.

But back to the clips - I've fitted the trims using the metal clips from Rimmers, which I believe are the David Manners, which I believe are the Bresco. But with my recently acquired trim piece came a clip which is probably an original, and completely rust free. At first glance they look the same - but on closer inspection the clips are quite different. The original is very stiff, it doesn't flex or bend easily - I can bend the new style with my fingernails. The old style have some quite subtle differences w.r.t how they clip onto the body panels, which is probably the reason the new style are, quite frankly, cack. I need to order (imminently) enough for a boot trim and both rear screen trims, so if anybody knows of the best supplier, I'd be grateful.

Good news - the Bresco clips are completely different to the Rimmers clips.
They don't bend using fingernails alone.
And they work.
I used 9 on on boot trim, they fitted so well I snapped the boot trim on without first securing the trim clips with poly sealant, and the boot trim is solidly fitted, a great fit.
Perhaps the clips could do with a slight shave off the ends, say 0.5 - 1mm to stop them touching the boot, but they're on, they're staying on, and the trim is solidly fitted and looking good. :D
Bresco part # is BSF065P, £8.80 inc vat for 15 of them, postage is £3.47 inc vat but if you order multiple items they only charge the one shipping fee. All prices on the website are ex vat, the vat is lumped on at the checkout.

Now all I need is some warm weather so I can seal the boot trim with silicone sealant using a 5mm syringe. :)

How do I fit these on? Fix the clips to the roof, then push on the trim.. or fix the clips into the trim then attach to the car?

I fitted them to the car first - I wanted to make sure that every clip was absolutely secure before risking putting on the trim and possibly having to take it off again due to one or two loose clips.
I was prepared to use poly sealant to secure the clips, but no need.

Clips arrived today, so I rushed out to fit the trims!

However, I can say that they are nowhere near as good as the originals.. The original clips are wider, and have two little nubs on them that the outer edge of the chrome trim snaps into. The Bresco clips don't have these nubs, so the trim has a tendency to "slip" somewhat. I finally managed to get it fitted though! The trick is to put the corners in first, then the other two lengths.

Here's a picture to see what I mean. Sadly, I only have 8 usable clips left, the others were far too rusty to reuse. If I had to do this again, I would certainly reuse original clips..

Did they have the little nubs on them for holding the trims in place?

The Rimmers ones are made from putty, are NOT an exact replica, look closely and they differ in small but significant ways.
The Bresco ones are completely different in shape and form, but are tough and they cetainly worked for me.

I've worked out why these clips were such a pain to install - THEY'RE THE WRONG ONES!!

Picked up a bag of the correct ones from Bresco at the resto show, which are pretty much the same as the originals.
