Location chassisnr.

Hello, does anyone know if there is another location of the chassisnumber except the aluminium plate on the inner wing?
The Dutch DVLA asked me that before they will give me a Dutch licenseplate. I`ve heard that the aluminium plate is enough
for the UK market and that there is another location where it is stammped in the steel for the overseas market.
The Haynes manual didn`t speak over another location by the way.
Is that correct? I picked up the car last week in the UK, so it is a UK version.

It's not.. Except on cars stamped with the universal VIN number - late '79 onwards? That's in the rear boot lip.

Hello Cooper, have you bought one?
The chassisnumber on LHD cars is stamped on the RH suspension turret (batterie side). It reads something like: VA **** LDLO.
On early Sprints (pre-'76) it's on the same spot but electro-etched. On very late ones (from 1980, not many in Holland) the chassisnumber is stamped in the gutter of the boot opening.
Hope this helps

Well you learn something every day!
Was this only on export cars?

It's required to be stamped in as defined by the following excerpt from the testers' manual:
VOSA wrote:A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN or chassis number) is required on all vehicles first used on or after 1 August 1980. except those which are
. kit cars
. amateur built vehicles
In practice, that would mean that a car which had stood in the showroom for a while should still be stamped with it as not everything flies off the forecourt the minute it's delivered there so it's quite usual for makers, who were made aware of this legislation in November of 1977, to have phased the stamps in long in advance of their becoming mandatory. I've seen a couple of '78 Dollies that didn't have the stamp but have also seen several from 1979 on that did.
The term "first used on or after" means that cars would have to have been stamped at an undefined point prior to that date since not even BL's resident futurologist could predict when those cars would be "first used."

if your chassis number is 13 digits and not the VA*****DLO format the chassis number should be stamped into the bootlid lip .

Thanks for all your answers, mine has a VA....DL number. So I can`t find it in the bootlid. It is a `75 example.
The Dutch DVLA has to stamp it in now, so it costs me extra money and I have to wait a couple of weeks when
the right man with the right education is available

Can you not stamp it yourself?

Sounds as though the UK and Holland are very similar in certain ways!
I think that they should, as Justyn asked, allow you to stamp it yourself, or doesn't your tool shop let people buy letter punches if they haven't done the appropriate course at college?

No I can`t do it myself, cause they already see it and they took in my English papers. If I knew it before I could have stamped it in and there was no problem. Before they stamp it in they will do a research for the authenticity of the car
,the chass.nr. and if it is not stolen

.
So I hoped that the number was elsewhere located.
