As of last night i took ownership of NJV 75M. A yellow sprint in need of a good restoration. This has been very kindly given to me by James (miniman) Thanks again James .
It arrived on a trailer around 18:30 probably a little early to start this thread as the car has only just arrived and work won't commence for a few weeks yet as i am trying to make room to move around my garage, plus i have a few outstanding jobs to do on the Tolly before i carry on.

After a brief look around in the dark it will need a lot of work on the body but underneath is not so bad. Also there has been some money spent on the suspension and engine so good news there!
I will put more info and pictures up after i have had a good look and drawn up a plan for the project.

Not too shabby at all really. Most of that just looks like surface stuff. Cool.

That really doesn't look too bad at all. Fit a screen, put some door handles on, fit the cam cover and off you go for an MOT.

ok had another look over it today. Plenty to sink my teeth into

Oh and some carbs that need to be identified. By the look of it the comm number is VA2004.

Great stuff, that deserves to live on. On the VED status, no, there aren't any free Sprints but what's £205 per year when insurance and maintenance costs are so much cheaper than they'd be for a modern car?

Very very true!

basic plan at the moment is to get the car running so i can see if anything needs doing on the engine or box etc. Once i have accomplished this i shall start stripping it out and put all the bits in storage so i can start on the shell.
I have two options on this, depending on how it progress's.
i shall strip back the body and prep the car mostly myself
then either take it to a friends workshop and i shall paint it, or i can take it to the college i work at and the automotive section will paint it for me at a cost of around £300 plus paint costs. (bargain!)
My preference is to pay to have it done as it will be a far better finish. I just have to time it so it fits in with their academic year projects. Seeing as the college has one of the top auto centres in England i think this is the most preffered option. The car deserves it!

Hmm! vernier cam sprocket. Get a mirror & see what's stamped on the end of the camshaft.

Looks a very worthwhile project. Glad it's been saved.

Ok. managed a look on end of cam. it looka like kn is stamped on it.
on the cam itself is other codes 3121and 20229 i think. Mean anything?

Good to see another one is going to be restored, and i see its comm number is VA 2004 as my sprint is VA 2005, i wonder what other consecutive comm number sprints have survived.

That should really be about the size of it to be honest! I think it has probably done about 100 miles since its last MOT which was in 2006 from memory. All I know about the cam is that it is "fast road".

Ok, in between trying to MOT my wifes car and my sons scooter this week i shall try and get the sprint running. I have noticed that the camshaft end mount is not connected. Is this essential?
Only reason is the thread on the end of the cam has gone.
Also does anyone have a spare plug tube, i have 3 at the moment. Though i may find the other inside the car .

what a fantastic project and a clear path to success mapped out, well done toledozombie and miniman for sorting this.

the surface rust that Ken mentioned looks to have gone through the surface in a coupla' spots. Ken always was an optimist though That roof (and C pillar) has taken a hammering and will be time consuming to fix. But you've got a while and the skills to fettle it.

this'll be a good project to watch and will provide a longer viewing time than mad mart's latest venture, which should be wrapping up by, say, next tuesday ?

I wish I was there to lend a hand. Reminds me of Adam's scheme to sort out unloved dollies.
