Never heard of Rimmers selling reconditioned doors, there are plenty of folk on here with good second hand doors for sale.

Pretty hard to ask a regular guy to ship a door to the USA...

What's wrong with your doors ? How about the club lower repair panels.

The internal structure of the doors is all rotted out at the bottom - all of those compound curves will be expensive to repair properly. They have already been glassed to death. The Front doors have also rotted out in the upper inner structure where the quarter window locking mechanisms are. The quarter windows themselves are terrible - the whole bottom track of the insert is gone - on both sides. I'm glad those are replaceable seperatley. Water must have been seeping under those door caps for quite a long time.

Basically, the quotes I have had from metal working shops to have these doors properly repaired (with real steel, hand formed, to look like original panels) will cost more than sourcing excellent condition doors in Britain and shipping them over - it's a labor intensive process, and labor ain't cheap. Now, I can't expect anybody except for a large parts warehouse like Rimmers, S&S, Robsport, etc.. to ship panels like that abroad. Boxing them up and getting them shipped would be an exhausting process for somebody who doesn't do it on a regular basis.

So, I was Looking at the Rimmers website, they have Reconditioned doors listed on their site - I was just wondering if anybody had actually *seen* one of those doors - was the reconditioning process up to OEM standards or does they look like pieces of crap.

I'm completely open to suggestions here - but I myself am not any good at bodywork so doing it myself (the repairs) is not an option.

I always find it's a tremendous shame that when Rimmers (or any other companies for that matter) introduces a new line in spares for our cars that they either don't tell the club that they have done so or, produce one of the items (free of charge) to the club for a member (who is need of that item) to fit and access it's suitability/quality.

It would make everyone's life so much more easy to know of someone elses experience.

I know that the club panels are such a case that they are "known" before they are sold onto other members, it seems the logical thing to do doesn't it?

Am i being blind or dumb, I can not see any listing for rimmers having reconditioned doors in stock only 'avalible to order' which means they take a deposit, wait for another 499 to place an order and hand over money then get 250 made up and tell 250 people that they can have a refund!

I am quite sure that for the right amount of money some of us would be prepared to sell you the doors you want and ship them.

PM me with your requirements

I actually just have a box thats about big enough for 1 door! ( I just bought some garden furniture )

Failing that why not buy a good entire shell as stick it in a container?

We list some doors and door skins here:- http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID008531
We have a limited stock of 1300FWD Rear Doors which are new old stock original BL parts. They will fit a Dolomite with a little modification, they all have storage/handling marks.
We also offer reconditioned doors, we do not keep these in stock generally, they are on a "to order" basis. We send old doors away either from our stock or the customer own units to be fitted with new skins and have the frames repaired as necessary by a local body shop. We do not charge a deposit up front for this service as is suggested above.
