I sent off an email to Sprintparts in Australia over the weekend enquiring about the front windscreen rubbers and trim, here's the reply, my conversions in brackets:

Hi Bill,
Screen rubber is A$99 (£63.38), Insert trim A$30 (£19.21) and freight for both to UK A$72(£46.09).

So same prices as they have always been!
There was a long thread about this a while ago, the rubbers are very good quality and last a long time in the oz weather, they are much better quality than the Baines made ones.
I did enquire about buying in bulk for club stock but it wouldnt work out any cheaper and be of no benefit to the club so it was decided just to let people order their own if thye wanted one!

Bill, if you decide to place an order I'll take one too please and share the carriage cost.
There is no rush since I don't actually need one.

I'm not sure I follow the logic, there may be no profit for the club but the members will be saving £40 odd a time once UK postage is taken into account. :scratchin:

At the time the 'club' (old comittee/ person holding the spare fund purse!) didnt want to spend out on something that was already available!
Maybe a club member can revisit this subject?

But lots of other parts the club sells (plugs, points, filters, flasher units, voltage stabilisers...) are already available elsewhere!

Its good to see a company like Sprintparts is still supplying / manufacturing high quality parts for what must be quite a small local market now. Their radiator cowls have been recommended in another thread. I have noticed the Australians seem to take their Dolomites more seriously than a lot of of us Brits, my respect to them for that.

Now, if Spintparts appointed a UK re-seller and could ship in bulk to save costs - there's a thought!

Just a thought on this....
You need to know if the seal if for a laminated screen or toughened.
I think the major reason why the Baines ones most of us have used lately is that they are for the thicker toughened screen....sold as for Toledo and 1500 fwd
which only came with this screen.

I have had one leaker, which was laminated and one which doesnt which is a zebrazone with the Baines seal.

If the Oz seals are for laminated you should be fine with yours and it should stop that delamination fog in the corner getting worse. I suspect the guy who restored your yellow one also used a Baines seal as lately that's all we've had in the UK.

Talking of which....Jon,

Can you remember if you re sealed HOH as it's a bit leaky? I think its a toughened screen.

Thanks
Jeff

If I still owned HOH I would be buying the seal from Oz as well....

It has a Baines one.....and I'm not impressed with it.

I never did order these from Oz. I phoned Old School Windscreens in Surrey, they supplied and fitted a new screen and seal for just over £250 (insurance paid, less excess) and it has not leaked since. I don't know what rubber seal they used but it will be sourced in the UK for sure. So correctly fitted, they do work.

That is a good result. I think we have just come to the conclusion that the Baines seals do work but NOT on laminated screens, whcih are actually narrower than the zebrazone ones.

I have a baines seal in 3 cars....the laminated ones leak and the zebrazone one doesnt. One of the laminated was a lot worse leaker than the other....:-)
