the snow piccie is fantastic 8)

as is the work you are doing, lots of rot to repair, but it is looking like a fine resto. Very satisfying stage of work this, knowing everything you do now will pay dividends in the long run.

Its funny how 1300 ajax's rival ADO16's for being good rotters. That really is a labour of love there.

Having seen your other restoration projects, I've no doubt that MWK will look one of the very best 1300 fwds in the country. MWK is very fortunate to have found a caring owner who is prepared to bring her back to her former glory. As always I will follow one of your restoration threads with great interest Nathan.

Hope everything goes to plan.

There is a cliche, is there not? Something about raining on a parade?

So,
the sill structure has disintegrated at both ends.....
From experience of Dolomites I expect the inner diaphragm sill to be rotting along its length because the lower mounting
edge is a moisture trap. If it was me, I would be doing the sills. I have seen this where the outer was still looking okay (except
for the ends).
Don't say I haven't warned you.

Poor Nath. He couldn't bear to make the first cut on the wing, so I did it for him by cutting out the mirror with an angle grinder :twisted: :twisted: Poor bloke hid round the corner whilst I was cutting and was nearly in tears.

The air powered nibbler made a very neat job of the top of the wing and having never used one before I was quite impressed at how easy it made it. Then Bruce arrived and went all gungho with the air chisel, he almost looked posessed :shock: :lol: :lol: . Effective but not as neat as the nibbler tbh.

The lower valance removal was interesting and took the longest time. I think you should go GRP there Nath, I really do.

Good work so far mate and I will try and get back up there to help out some more. Now where's my grinder??

Great resto thread and pics Nath.. Rust makes some very interesting patterns..dare I say it, even quite beautiful sometimes! :shock: :lol:

That reminds me, what happened to the GRP valance that was used on display at NEC in November? I could do with that back for the Triumph Show...you never know, someone might want one...

Just out of interest, Why did the 1300 and 1500 have highly offset wheels?

Because the bulky driveshaft joints used would have been set too far inboard and as such would have failed to turn about the hub centres had the wheels been less inset, they're not offset, that's the other way. :wink:
