Project Satin Black - Help!!!!!!!!

As one Triumph shaped object leaves my life, so shall another enter it.
Sunday evening saw a call from a certain 1300FWD owner (git) who casually mentioned a slightly down at heel Toledo for sale on ebay. I had to have a look didn't I, what harm could that do. The Toledo in question is tax-exempt, with a tan interior which is in reasonable condition, the car is MOT'd and taxed as well.
The downside? Well, it was Damson and is now satin black. Door shuts not painted black. The other downside is that it has perhaps eaten a valve or a valve spring and is a three cylinder car, not a four.
A single solitary bid of £200 secured said vehicle. I have a Toledo again. Strange old world.
The usual photos and write ups to follow.

Mad as a box of frogs. Good job I have a real soft spot for Tollies. Hopefully this one shall not suffer the same fate as Nellie the Hiab'd Toledo.

That looked like a good buy, I was tempted. If only it was closer.

Cheers Jon, that sounds like a cunning plan. I will be in touch as soon as I know more.
Cheers

And if you find you really can't keep it, let me know and I'll rehome it! The story of its aquisition mirrors that of my own Tolly, one bid at the last moment and mine for £200. I'm looking for a car for my youngest to learn on and this would be perfect (I promise not to vandalize it with a Vauxhall engine)
Otherwise Good Luck with it, A Triumph-less Ken is a bit of an oxymoron anyway, glad you have found another to feed the monkey! And welcome back! (not that you've really been away)

Cheers guys, ok Steve I will bear you in mind
Aw c'mon Darren, give me a break!!!! You are more than welcome to pop over. Colchester ain't that far away!
Now, engine woes aside (for now). Do I keep it death Goth satin black or do I try and re-Damson it? Oh, decisions, decisions.

Glad to see that this has gone to a good home. I was in contact with the previous owner before the auction ended, he seems to have had a hard time with it.
I think you should retain the car's current 'look' and just use it for a bit: when the engine is repaired or swapped, obviously! Get the interior clean and tidy, put some miles on it and see what, if anything, goes wrong. If it proves to be a good buy then consider repainting in the future. Damson looks terrific on 4drs!
Mind you, that said, I nearly bought the car last time it was available and harboured visions of 7J steels (in yellow), Lamin-X tinted headlamps and my Sprint Parts (Oz) extra-deep front spoiler. Ahem.

Cleaning the interior is one of Ken's fortes. When he's done it'll be clean enough to eat your dinner off it.
