Since my last update the car has had mainly cosmetic work on the body, sills have had a skim of filler, the wing needed some work as the headlight panel didn't fully aline, so another skim and that was sorted!! a dent at the back quarter has been removed and the front valance been rebuilt!
So after nearly a week of bad weather iv got her painted, wasn't the best weather as it wasn't really warm enough, so iv got some runs on the paint to address but its better than it was and the best is iv got smooth doors...NO MORE HORRIBLE STONECHIP!!!
Still got to paint the O/S wing but if its done before the mot then it's done if it's not it's not!! im running out of time as the MOT is up on the 26th of may, and a new steering rack has got to find its onto the car before then!!!
Paint is a close match, just a fraction out but as the guy mixed it from scratch im very happy, may look even better once its polished!!
Jobs still todo befor the mot, fit steering rack, rebuild the front end, tune the engine and polish (if i have time) the list is getting sorter!!!!

Looking much better there! Nice job.
What did you use to spray it with? I am looking at doing a few doors myself and not sure what the best way is.

I used rattle cans to paint it with but the paint was mixed by a company called Hex Holdings.
The paint is 2K in 2K spray cans, you have to release the hardener into the can via a device on the bottom of the can, you then have 3 days to use it!! They cost £7.31 a can and they can mix any colour!!i bought 6 cans and i used 4 cans todo my car!! The paint finish is brill and i havent polished as yet but paint it in better weather as iv got alot of runs as it was to cold!!

Nathan Mwk 627G,
Thanks! That looks really good for the money! I should only need about 4 cans too I think, which is next to nothing.

Excellent progress, i didn't realise they did 2k in cans. I'd be careful about getting the stuff onto tyres and wheels though, can be really tuff to shift (i've learnt the hard way

. Best way to cover wheels is an old sheet, just sling it over the wheel and jobs a goodun

Nath, how did he do the match again? Did you have a paint sample to take to him? I can't recall

4 bin liners are equally useful, quickly applied and removed.
I'd be very careful about the fumes from 2k cans!

The can's spray and feel a lot softer to work with than the "everyday" can from the local motor factor, the paint feels alot thicker, and seem to flow better then other spray paint's, really dont think ill use anything else now, the paint that was on the car originally was mixed by Halford's at £10 a can so at £7.31 its really worth it!! they can mix both 2K and cellulose but the cellulose is limited stock!!
xvivalve, you are correct about the fumes, a mask is definately needed, i painted mine in the garage at first and even with the dust coat you can feel it getting to you!! i did wear a mask, id recommend it with outside use as your only a couple the of foot awy from the car/panel
MalcGE, again you are right, for some reason i didn't cover the wheels, i always do but it slipped my mind for some reason, probably because i wanted to get it done before the bad weather arrived again, i did spot it as i took the photo's and the eccess paint was removed soon after, luckly the paint was still in tacky mode!!
Ken, I took the headlight panel up to Hex Holding's and left it with him to mix, but when he mixed the 66 code which is on the car it came out a murky green so he mixed the paint from scratch using the panel as a guide!! it took him 2 days to get it right but the finish and colour match is excellent!!
Thanks for the comments guys!!

Nathan, I found out the head quarters for Hex Holdings is only a few mins from my house!
Plus sometime I'd be interested seeing this car in person to see the paint finish, I am in Coventry right now.
