Have actually been outside today for a bit more engine painting on the TR7 engine.

was going to fit my replacement polished Inlet maniford but was having trouble getting that pesky o'ring to stay put.

Anyone know the best way of keeping it in place without it dropping off.

Cheers for that have been trying hylomar with no sucsess, I did contemplate puting a couple of dabs of super glue on it but didn't know if it would eat into the seal.

Hylomar should have worked.
I am thinking your O ring is the wrong size. The correct size fits snugly into the inlet manifold.

the seal looked about the right size as the last one I fitted on the previous manifold.
I think I may of had a dud tube of hylomar as it seemed very runny.

I went to a plummer friend of the family who had some silicon grease and it worked a treat.

Cheers for the help.

I used some orange silicone sealant and it never failed, I was less impressed with Blue Hylomar in this application though for other jobs it's great stuff.

the O ring should just sit happily in the groove in the inlet manifold. If it doesnt you have the wrong O ring or need to clean out the grove.
Vaseline does the job of locating it. I wouldnt use any kind of sealant here...thats what the rubber does.
