Headlight question

I have a box full of various sealed beam headlights and need to fit some to my project. Does anyone know which wattage/type a Dolomite requires? I long since removed my originals and I think they ended up on VA6!
I'm going to Bealieau in a few weeks and might look for some better ones so Lucas part numbers are also handy. I have no intention of fitting H4's so please don't suggest it. I don't use the lights enough and have yet to find any lenses the right shape.

Inner GLU117 55w except on very early Sprints which were 75w and as rare as hens teeth.
Outer GLU120 , not sure of wattage but were the same on all Sprints.
I'll try and get the outer wattage unless someone else can in the meantime

The Sprint Press Pack has the following spec for the lights
Outer 37.5/60w
Inner 75w

I seem to have some 50w ones and some marked 35w so they are probably suitable. You see a lot on Ebay but I'm always unsure which is which as there are many different types and often wattage is not listed.

When I needed them a few months ago I ended up getting some good used inners from Wyns International - they were very helpful

Not sure if its any more help but the old Lucas books list Sprints 1976 and later as
Non Dip which I take as inner as pn 5724 and dip as pn 5731.

Len, you were right about the inners in your first post. My post-76 parts catalogue lists the outer as GLU135.
On a side note, the LHD cars have replaceable bulbs. I wonder if Holger, Jeroen or any other LHD owners could shed any light on this. The light units appear to be flat so the H4 conversion kits could well be the same units as the LHD spec ones. Just in case anyone is interested, the part numbers are GLU525 for the inner and GLU526 for the outer. The bulb for the outer is the same as for the rectangular headlight.

I thought Sprints 'out of the box' only wore one 75W on the offside...

Hi Alun,
No, they had two. I had a new one in 73(M reg) and that had a pair. With hindsight don't you wish you had kept all your old motors! Traded it in for a biodegradable AlfaSud Ti.
Cheers
Len

Not sure how this was handled for the LHD markets. Strange enough my Italian 1977 Sprint have Lucas H4 lamps installed while the Swiss 1977 Sprint came with Hella H4 light units. Problem is also that getting a proof what was originally installed after those cars are 35+ years old and had several owners. Plus a lot of cars in the 1970's had similar lights. So you can also install BMW E30 series ones if you get them cheap....
