REAR C PILLAR VINYL TRIM

I would like to replace the vinyl trim on my 1500hl as it is coming unstuck at the top of the pillar and also starting to split at the bottom where the trim strip is, I would like to take it off ideally and replace it with new vinyl although the original appears more plastic than vinyl. I have bought a piece on new vinyl from Martrim and I wondered if I can get the original off I can use it as a pattern. Has anyone replaced theirs and if so any ideas or help would be gratefully received also do you use contact adhesive such as evostick?
I have seen some cars with the vinyl left off or the pillar painted black but I would like to replace it if possible as i prefer it fitted if it is not going to be easy I will remove the vinyl as I do not want water to get down behind it as that is my main reason for wanting to replace it.

Martrim is your friend here, given they are only in Sandbach you might consider running up there to see if they'll fit it for you? You could get both sides done to match.

Yes it is plastic on the 'D' pillar.
They are stuck on with a contact adhesive and to get them off, careful use of a heat gun and gentle persuasion. Martin at Martrim can make you some from the roof vinyl material but the plastic bits are NLA. (unless someone has a pair hidden away somewhere).

Tried but no luck Martrim for me! I'll try and encourage them to come out and fit when I am ready.

I know I have a pair somewhere. They came off VHK. I can't find them (stored them somewhere safe) so I had to use the ones that came off the track Sprint. I'm pretty sure one of them had a small split in though.

If you are careful you can fit the vinyl yourself. Use contact adhesive to glue main face. Leave over night. Then very careful use of hair drier (not hot air gun!) will allow you to slowly tease the remaining vinyl round the door shut. Use impact adhesive as before. Do make sure that you allow enough material for all the angles and folds. Make a template for badge holes before starting then use a pin with the template to locate fixing holes.
All said and done, previous advice about getting a trimmer to do it is highly advisable, not least of which they will do it in a fraction of the time. Just don't let them stitch two pieces to make the shape as this will compromise the door shut.
