NORTHERN DOLLY DAY, Sunday June 15th 2014

Sunday 15th June (Father's Day) at Thorp Perrow
Thorp Perrow Aboretum
Bedale
DL8 2PR

http://www.thorpperrow.com/

When I took Steve W. to the AGM yesterday, we mentioned NDD and the lack of action on my part. There was talk of having it somewhere else this year (we're a bit loath to hold it at Harewood again so we're looking at alternatives) and the idea of working with the Northeast area was thrown in somewhere. Steve has mentioned a couple of places in North Yorkshire (Bedale and Masham) and I've sent Graham (the Northeast AO) an e-mail to see what his thoughts are (I don't think he comes on here).

We're working on one of Steve's suggestions and we have a date in mind. We'll be getting in touch with the venue and once a reply has been received, I'll put up some more details. This will be the deadline for getting my 1850 painted & MoTd.

Just my luck, the year it is on my door step and my car is no where near ready for the road :(, unless it is in October, might be done by then. Will you still speak to me if I come in something else or is it Dolly's only?

I'm going to be doing to organizing so once I've been in touch with the venue, I'll post on here. I need to get mine on the road too.

Edit: I've just e-mailed the venue so once I've got a reply, I'll reveal all.

I can now reveal that NDD will take place on Sunday 15th June (Father's Day) at Thorp Perrow and they will offer us a reduced admission fee to the Arboretum. I've had a response from them and they can acommodate us on that date. If anyone wants to attend please let me know and I'll add you to my list.

Thorp Perrow is near to Bedale in North Yorkshire and is equidistant between the West Yorkshire and Northeast areas. Their website can be found HERE

Right that's a target, she might not be pretty by then but I will do my best to have my sprint mot'd.

NDD is also my target to get my 1850 MoTd. Mine's not pretty either being in grey primer with some areas of Sapphire and Damson so don't worry about the cosmetics. This is the reply from Thorp Perrow:
Thank you for your enquiry, we are dealing with quite a few car groups this year, we can offer you a reserved area of our car park and reduced entry rates to the arboretum, birds and mammals. The date you have mentioned is fine with us.
If you want to attend please let me know. My contact details are in DM or you can PM me.

I've had some details from Thorp Perrow and they can offer us reduced admission at £6.30 (the normal price is £8.10) but I need at least 10 so please let me know as soon as possible if you wish to visit the Arboretum. They do a group menu but I don't think I'll bother with it. There's a tearoom so everyone can make their own arrangements for food.

I nearly forgot the most important thing. The address is:

Thorp Perrow Aboretum

I'm hoping to go out there and take a recce to see what it is like.

It is featured in DM which has galvanized me into action and I've e-mailed the form to Thorp Perrow so that we'll be guaranteed our own corner of the car park.

Not many takers for the Aboretum so far. Please get in touch if you want the reduced admission rate.

I've made this topic a "sticky".

I've had a few more responses from members so it should be a decent turn out. Hopefully, my 1850 will be back on the road in time. The money situation has improved so I can crack on with getting it fit to pass an MoT.

I should be going Dave if I get the 1300 to run right. Still can't set the mixture and the timing fluctuates on idle. OK at revs so dizzy OK. Now pretty sure its the servo take of'f' at the manifold its loose and leaking. Going away for a couple of weeks and when I get back going to look at getting rid of the waxstat and drilling out and tapping the manifold and fitting a new threaded pipe to sort it.
My son and his wife may come too but travel seperatly. Will they be able to be added to the numbers to get them up for the discount? If they can I will get a fixed confirmation off them.

Bob, it will certainly help. As the organizer of NDD it will be arranged. With me and my good lady (I'm hoping she will come along) we're halfway there!

Oh feck! Anita's youngest daughter is having her birthday celebrations on that weekend (we're having a weekend away camping) and there's absolutely no way I can miss that (more than my life is worth as some of you can imagine) so I won't be attending. I've already e-mailed Thorp Perrow and Steve W. I know it isn't good form for the organizer to not attend but these things happen.

Sorry!
