Hi.

In the spirit of one step forward and at least one step back I have just found that one of the rear shocks on my Sprint is leaking quite badly (and probably explains the strange behaviour from the back end).

Does any one have any recommendations for uprated shocks for fast road use and also matching springs?

Gaz Munro or AVO are all good makes.

Some are adjustable in stiffness and some are adjustable in ride height too.

You pays yer money....etc.

Yes I was looking at them (the PF208?) but wasn't sure exactly what the spec was.

What springs have you used?

Rear
pf208 (£90 each)
spring e8200 8" 200 lbs (£24.70 each)

Front
pf207 (£90 each)
spring e8400 8" 400 lbs (£28.80 each)

The above set transformed the car, a much firmer ride but very usable for daily use.
Spring diameters are smaller than original, so you need a top spring retainer for 2,25" ID springs. AVO did supply a set for free.

Yes, that's what I have on the track Sprint and they came with the necessary spring retainers, so a straight fit. You can choose your spring rates & lengths iirc.

Thanks Henk & Mart. Food for thought. I have one or two other issues with the car so I will defer this decision until I have got on top of the other problems as it is a big investment (£600 aprox inc VAT by the time they're fitted?).

Hi, a bit of quick advice required as Rimmers have an offer ending monday (15% off)

How essential is the adjustable ride height? I intend to use the car for fast road and classic (road) rally type events with tests (round cones in farmyards etc).

I am considering the following:

or these and use the existing (assumed) standard springs for now with the option to use uprated springs at a later date. That is assuming they take the std spring diameter.

Try Motorsport World they were about £100 cheaper than Rimmers for the Gaz shocks when I bought mine.

I've had an offer of some used shocks (Spax rear and as new AVO fully adjustable fronts) which will do for now but also allow me to experiment a bit with an option to upgrade to AVO rears at a later date. The immediate problem is a faulty rear shocker so the deal will allow me to sort that out first.

I'm not a pro so these things tend to take me a while to get to grips with, and I have a replacement rad and electric fan to get fitted as well.

Rome wasn't built in a day, but then Pompei burned while Nero fiddled, I think

Thanks for the earlier advice but for what I am going to be doing with the car I think a softer set up will suit me better.
